Like a "budget" We Esprit, another practical and flawless Laconico design at awesome price!
Not much to say here, if you've tried Laconico's designs- you'll know they are always very classy yet neutral and practical in design- well balanced in hands of all sizes and utilitarian drop point like blades that cut fine for EDC use. This guy checks all that, with a very nice feeling burlap micarta version I got, honestly some of the nicest micarta feel I've felt compared knives costing over $160. Liner lock access is perfect, front flipper is easy to deploy and never fails, as knife weight is balanced perfectly at fulcrum- as are thumb studs- you can fidget without wearing away your fingers if you desire. Finely tuned detent with satisfying click when deployed, early lockup. No issues at all, and the grind was extremely even and sharp from factory, .0125" thickness bte! Always dependable Sandvick steel blade that Civivi always heat treats well and has nice scratch hiding and resisting black stonewash. I mean for $65 this really has a top end feel- it looks unassuming, but it is a knife that will hog your pocket time once you get it and just feel how much they got right! WE/Civivi is just too good at their machining and work over there- they really do compete with knives at double the cost- and are extremely consistent as I own over 25 different models now with no lemons!

The Gentleman’s Workhorse
The CIVIVI Sokoke, designed by Ray Laconico, is what happens when you mix everyday utility with sleek, no-nonsense style. The 3.35-inch 14C28N steel blade is like a scalpel with an attitude—razor-sharp, corrosion-resistant, and ready to handle anything from opening packages to slicing up your latest camping feast. The burlap Micarta handle? Oh man, it’s like shaking hands with confidence—comfortable, grippy, and just classy enough to make you feel sophisticated while you flick it open like a boss. Speaking of that, the thumb stud and front flipper make deployment smoother than your best whiskey, and the action is silky without feeling loose.Final Verdict:The Sokoke is rugged but refined, functional but fun, and definitely a knife you’ll keep reaching for. 9/10—because looking cool while using a knife matters, too.

A Bit Underwhelmed
It’s a Ray Laconico design- simple, subtle and functional. If you like front flippers, this knife is great. If you plan to just use thumb studs, they’re accessible and functional. The action runs on bearings and is smooth. The blade is thin and takes a sharp edge. It is ground thin but has the toughness characteristic of its steel, 14c28n. I’m not a huge fan of the stonewashed finish and I think it would look better as a satin finish. The ergos are good, and it’s a great knife overall. For the price, I didn’t feel it met my expectations.

Instant favorite!
As soon as I saw this knife, I knew I was going to like it.Pros:- 14C28N steel in a drop point is a great combination. The grind is thin enough to keep it from bogging down in cardboard, but still strong enough for medium duty work.- Handle ergonomics are very comfortable. The burlap micarta scales look amazing, and have a great feel to them.- Smooth action for easy deployment. Lockup has so far been solid during normal use.- The thumb studs work as you'd expect. I was surprised at how well the front flipper action was. Even if you're not good with a front flipper flick, you can likely slow-roll it out with little effort.- I find the size to be very comfortable for every day carry. The Sokoke is a regular in my rotation.Cons:- I only have two of them.Overall, it's a quality knife, at a good price!

LOVE this knife!!
Feels so nice in the hand and has such a smooth operation. I bought a forged titanium pocket clip with it, but I actually really like the stock clip and how low it sits in my pocket. Stock pocket clip feels really sturdy. Extremely impressed with this knife.

Another excellent budget knife from CIVIVI
Outstanding offering from CIVIVI designed by the master of EDC minimalism Ray Laconico. Sharp out of the box, snappy, well tuned detent, nearly drop shut action, beautiful wood grain G10 scales, excellent budget steel, and good ergonomics. My only nitpick is the limited lock bar access. This is easily rectified by removing the scales and removing about 1/16in of material from the lock access cutout. Took 2 minutes w a Dremel. You can also hand file with a round file. I also switched to one of the CIVIVI milled Ti clips. It just looks better. Also improved the ergonomics slightly although the stock clip was not particularly uncomfortable.
