Fave childhood candy
When I was growing up a friend of my parents used to bring this over to the house after she travelled to Japan. It was so mysterious to eat the paper! Each package has six pieces of candy. There is an outer clear cellophane wrapper with printing on it, which is meant to be removed. Inside is the candy with a rice paper coating meant to be eaten. There used to be a toy but now it’s a Japanese sticker.Still delicious after all these years! I’ve ordered from amazon a few times, some were fresher/softer than others.

Believe the reviews these are terrible! Astounded a seller can sell these. Old dried stale worthless
I purchased from two different people to test out which is better based on the reviews of this product. This product have bad reviews saying they were still in dry so I purchased another you can see in the picture of the bag and those are the same candy and they’re delightful! They’re soft they’re fresh literally this candy that you’re about to buy taste like it’s been sitting on a shelf for a decade and they’re hard and horrible… And you cannot return these! Seriously the bag on the right is good and I’m not associated with this but what you’re about to buy is complete garbage so disappointed. This should not be allowed… Nobody should be able to sell old stale dried out useless food as something that is edible. These are absolutely horrendously terrible because the minute you bite into them you can’t bite… They become hard candies which these are not. They’re dried out gross things

Botan Rice Candy: A Staple of my Childhood
I remember going to Marukai for the first time and seeing a small packet of these candies on the shelf. They were unassuming at first. Maybe it was the cat on the front that drew my eye? Regardless, I went home that same day and tried one of them. Now, I do admit that these candies are an acquired taste, to say the least. They are subtle with a slight powdery undertone with the flour-like substance rubbed all over its surface. The rice paper is a novel idea that makes the candy more interesting and memorable. I find that the soft versions of the candy taste better, but the hard versions also provide their own twist on the same candy. I can't really recommend these as a gift because of their unique appeal.

Tradition
This is a Christmas tradition in my house. It is a yearly stocking stuffer. I got it as a kid and now my grandbabies are. It is very hard to find anymore so I was happy to discover it at Amazon. It has the same flavor from my childhood. It is a bit spendy, but the memories are worth it. There are six pieces in each box.

my favorite candy
I moved last fall, and there's no Asian market near me, so I couldn't get the little boxes of these. They're my favorite candy in the whole world, so imagine my delight when I found them on Amazon for $25 for 20! What a fantastic price!!! The market back home sold them for about $3/box. I will be regularly purchasing this. Not too regularly, because my dentist will yell at me.(The stickers are a definite bonus. When I was a little kid, they were kind of a cute and old-fashioned style. Now they are just completely unhinged. I can't describe it any better than that. Get some and see.)

Delicious and, most importantly, quite fresh.
I've loved these tasty, lightly-sweetened candies since I was a kid. The worst thing that can happen is getting a stale batch, which renders them literally rock hard and inedible; this was my main concern when ordering online, but I took a gamble.I'm pleased to say that my case of 20 was absolutely edible. Though I've had these candies before when they are extremely soft, I'd rate my purchase as a 4/5 on the softness scale, which is perfectly reasonable to me, and I'd buy again from this seller.
