OK, kind of ...
This book is useful for old school java programmers who have gotten a bit out of touch with the latest and greatest. It covers a number of useful topics and then again not some, for example why Hibernate was added is a riddle, frameworks should not be part of this.A closer focus on POJO would have benefited this book a bit more. A times it goes down to a lot of detail and then zooms back up and skips over stuff. All in all, lots of great stuff here to help a java programmer, but most topics will need more research to be full grasped.Looking for details of new language features: 5/10Looking for an updated overview of the landscape: 8/10

Good book for reference if you have done Java before
The book provide really helpful for you if you are trying to know more about Java after you have done it. It provides a lot of examples for doing one thing in different ways.
