YONGNUO YN-300 III LED Camera Video Light 3200k-5500k for DSLR Canon Nikon Olympus Pentax Samsung Sony with IR Remote Phone Operation

Having been so impressed with the YN160 II by Yongnuo, I went ahead and bought this, the YN300 III. Of a similar size but slightly heavier because of the extra LEDs, this is even better. Firstly the light appears to be softer, giving the impression of an already well diffused light source. This model contains two sets of LEDs, one set of 150 LEDs at a daylight temperature of 5500k, perfect for a daylight fill light, and another set of 150 at 3200k that match a tungsten light source. This enables you to balance the light with what ever ambient light is surrounding your subject. You can also blend any combination of the two sets to match the light balance of your surroundings. A remote control is provided that enables you you control the settings without having to gain access to the back panel. You can then make adjustments from the camera position allowing you to better judge the exact lighting effect you want. You can also download an app, either from iTunes for iOS or from Google Play for Android. This also gives you full control from your phone via Bluetooth. It is easy to connect and works well. You can control several lights by running each light on a separate channel.All in all, this is a great accessory to add another string to your bow. The light can be used just as effectively for stills as for movies, and is a great alternative to flash. There is a digital display on the back which can show you the power remaining and the brightness that you have set. A mount and small stand is provided, along with a handle to complete the setup. You will need to buy or provide your own battery for this device, but as it is so reasonably priced in the first place, this is no hardship. I found that the NP-F970 provides power for 3-4 hours of shooting.

I’m a wedding photographer and hate using flash. Ordered these after working with a videographer who used them on a dance-floor. One each side. Took mine for a spin last weekend and they stayed on solidly for 2.5 hours before the batteries died. Brilliant. Didn’t even need them on half strength for brightness. Really powerful. They do not come with the batteries! I didn’t read it properly so didn’t order any to start with. My error.

good for macro, continuos light helps focusing, a lack of supplied power source is pity full, having to buy accessories is a nuisance, and I can't find an AC pack in UK, remote is useful for changing intensity and colour of lighting

Yongnuo are properly good. Their flashguns are every bit as good as the canons that they have reverse engineered, and they are a fraction of the price. And the same can be said about their lights! This 300 uses Somy batteries, which can be had from 3rd party manufacturers and work perfectly. And the batteries last an age! I use this setup to film weddings and I’ve onlu once had to change a battery mid evening. You can adjust them for the colour balance you want, all from the remote or from your mobile phone. There’s really nothing more you could want from a 300 LED light. I love them!

Excellent quality for a reasonable price as can be expected from Yongnuo. The barn doors are plastic but perfectly usable. The included filter fits on the light perfectly. Not too loose and not too snug.

Perfect compliment to my light set-up. Better than expected.

Works fine

Misleading description leads you to believe this is supplied, or has capacity for, batteries. Not so. A separate battery pack is required or a mains adapter. Finding the right mains adapter is a mission. Looks solid and well made.
