Excellent!!
As a long time fan(atic) of the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo space programs, I love finding a new reference that is excellently written. I could not have asked for more with this book. I don't think I have read a better account of the whole Apollo 13 mission. The sequence of events is ordered by "ground-elapsed-time" which starts at the moment of liftoff and is just a measurement of hours, minutes and seconds from that point. This seems like a small detail, but it really helps the reader keep track of different efforts that are taking place in space and on the ground. It also helps bring home the long, long coast back from the moon in a ship that was cooling down to refrigerator like temperatures.Another great thing about David Baker's work is that it gives so much technical detail about the Apollo spacecraft beyond what you need to know just about the Apollo 13 accident. There are many descriptions and diagrams about the propulsion, environmental, and navigational subsystems that makes this an excellent Apollo reference book even without all the information about Apollo 13.This is a must-have for any space enthusiast's library.

This book is wonderful source of the apollo spacecraft.
I worked in the Apollo as a technician. It was me the inspector and the astronaut running intergraded plug in plug out ACE checkout tests in Downey plant where this bird was built.it covers thoroughly the basic equipment systems of the Apollo Command module, Service module and the Lunar lander. It integrates the information with the Apollo 13 mission. It great to give to someone without the basic knowledge of the Apollo spacecraft. It has a balance of photos and documentation to get a clear picture of the basic Apollo Missions. .Also the system diagrams are well explained. The low price of the book is good too.The attached photo is not in the book It is Apollo 15 and me taken in bldg. 290 Downey CA

Countdown in progress!
Having already built the rocket in my yard, I bought this book for two reasons: I wanted to make an exact duplicate of the Apollo 13 module for my own space mission, and I wanted to find out what went wrong so I could avoid the same issue(s). This book has allowed me to accomplish both those those goals, and now I am that much closer to my launch date. My biggest obstacle now is working with two nearby airports, Kennedy and LaGuardia, to find a launch window that will not interfere with their operations. They have not yet responded to my queries. My documentary film of this whole process will be released after the completion of the mission.Thank you, Haynes, for this wonderful manual. I will credit your company in my film.

great read and nice to see how accurate the Ron Howard movie was to true events, nice collection of diagrams and photos
Great book on what could have been the worst disaster in space travel history. I enjoyed the diagrams and plans of the lunar spacecraft and the rockets that propelled three souls into space towards the moon. The concepts of astrophysics were nicely explained that a non-scientist would understand. I also enjoyed the photos of the events of the time.Laid out like the mechanics manuals the same publisher is famous for, this was a manual for the account of what happened on the Apollo 13 mission.Great holiday read.

Excellent book for a still nowdays a fantastic journey
The book is quite interesting from the enegineering and managerial point of view. Great and uncommon data about the astronavigational/computer/electrical systems and CSM architecture and how the Apollo fixed its own position in space. A detail that was missed: the water evaporation cooling system of the LEM, since water was a critical consumable there is no diagramam explaining how it worked and the rate of how water was consumed. I have to add that this is not a book for a beginnner since the author asume that the reader has a full knowlege of the Apollo complex. The book really overpass my expectations.

A Perfect Gift for the Scientist on my list
This was a Christmas gift to a young scientist who is very interested in the space program. He was delighted witth the book. He thumbed through the pages and said it looked very thorough and he couldn't wait to read all of it. We had watched the movie together and I had been impressed by his comments and the facts he quietly added. When I read a review of this book in the newspaper I knew I wanted to get it for him. I think I'd like to read it myself.

Apollo 13
Great manual and Guide for the Ill fated Yet Successful Apollo 13 Mission. The book tells how the Mission was planned to go , and how it became a minute to minute planning session to save the crew when disaster struck. A Great book for anyone interested in the space program, showing that when it comes to space flight, there is no simple, easy & quick Mission.

I've read it three times now.
This is a great read if you are interested in history, NASA or space exploration in general. Written by a person who was on the scene in Houston during the mission. Lots of geeky, technical details! Wonderfully illustrated, but much more than a picture/coffee table book. I found it interesting to compare this story with the excellent movie by Ron Howard.
