My Swan Fan stopped working with out any reason after couple of years use. I could hear the humming noise and that indicated that it needed lubrication. My dad was an electrician by the way so I know little bit about fans and motors. I knew that normal oil is not going to cut the mustard as it will dry out again in few weeks due to heat generated by the fan motor plus oil can cause fire too if it's not designed for the purpose .This is well known product and is engineered to withstand heat generated by the motor.Couple of drops of this oil and fan is running at full speed once again. Bottle has a very long extendable spout which helps put oil where is supposed to go and avoid big spillage and mess.

I have a cheap room fan that was seizing up last year, using it on the shaft at both bushings brought it back to life. However the application doesn't seem to last very long. Some six months later I am taking it apart again to reapply more. You do get a lot of oil for the price. I will update with anemometer and current readings to track degradation. It leaves me wondering if these cheaper fans are worth the effort, compared to a much older fan I haven't had to oil in some 20 years of ownership and use, the motor, bushings/bearings and original oil was that good. Perhaps the motor runs hotter. It is a conundrum for sure as I loathe to replace what can be repaired. For good measure I stripped it down completely to check the inside of the motor (was spotless) and cleaned the shaft and bushings with acetone before reapplying just to make sure there was no contaminants.

Bought to lubricate a noisy boiler fan , worked immediately and being good for use in areas of higher than normal heat should be OK over time . A little expensive, compared to Internet prices but I needed it quickly
