The Sh!t No One Tells You About Pregnancy: A Guide to Surviving Pregnancy, Childbirth, and Beyond Review: Best pregnancy book!! Loved it and read it twice! - Best pregnancy book I read!! I laughed, cried & was amazed the whole way through!!! It has raw details & advice. It helped me think of things I never would have. The most note worthy being to have an honest, deep talk with your partner pre baby about all the things you expect & need from them after a baby is here. Household chores, emotional support, etc! Do this before you have a screaming baby at 2am. And the second was writing letters or in some way documenting your pregnancy& beyond. My mom passed away and not being able to ask her about being pregnant with me and what she went through were very hard, I'm glad to be able to pass an entire journal of pregnancy, birth, newborn stage, etc and this book is the reason I thought to do that. Thank you for providing belly busting laughs, following tears, and real life pregnancy with this book. I will be purchasing the follow up also! Great book for any mother that isn't for all the sugar coated S***! Review: Buy it. - This was the first book I read when we found out we were becoming parents. Honestly, it's the only "what to expect" book I've read because so many other resources are overwhelmingly boring, so I end up skimming over information that will probably end up being important. This book is perfect, especially for first time parents. It introduces everything in an accessible and engaging way. More research can happen, but this at least shows you what you will want/need to research (rather than simply asking Google "What happens now?" The humor is perfect. The incorporation of different families and stories is perfect. This has become our gift for friends when we find out they're expecting.

Funny, easy to read, actual good advice
This was an entertaining book which is what I wanted. There were some good points made and insights given. I scanned through and read the highlights of some chapters and all of other chapters. You could skip around pretty easily and not feel like you were missing anything by not reading “in order.” I found that the anecdotes varied across many different lifestyles and situations so it was varied information and not just from one kind of opinion or viewpoint. I would recommend for most new moms as long as you’re not super sensitive about language, which was not overtly vulgar but was a bit off color.

Not for single moms really but great book otherwise!
I have to give the book a 5 star because it’s amazing. I do have to warn moms that for single women whether by choice or not.. this book heavily mentions partners and how they should support u or whatever. It’s a bit frustrating as a SMBC but I knew that it would probably feature couples rather than single parents. I think the book so far (I’m halfway through) is great for facts that aren’t easily accessible and I’m reading it all at once but will re read in sections throughout my pregnancy. I think the author is amazing and would love a book from her that features single motherhood 💖

Best Pregnancy Book EVER
This book tells it like it is. She doesn't sugar coat anything. Blunt, to the point, hilarious! She also has input from many other parents. You get perspectives from straight couples, gay couples, single parents, divorced parts, parents of 1 kid, parents of multiple kids, etc.. She states her opinion but doesn't act like it's the only way to do things. I felt like What To Expect When Your Expecting pushed unmedicated births and didn't give options for other styles. Not everyone wants a bathtub-in-the-living-birth, okay?! If you can relate, this book is for you!!

Enjoyable but not very informative...
It was an enjoyable read but not a lot of meat. Her writing was really funny and I laughed out loud quite a bit throughout the book. However, it's a little outdated (published in 2017, I believe) and there isn't a whole lot of practical advice. If you need a good laugh to distract you from the overall discomfort of pregnancy, it's great. If you're looking for a book that will tell you what to expect and also what to do about it, you'll need to look elsewhere.

Entertaining...Eases anxieties
This was recommended to my by a new mommy friend of mine. If you're looking for TRUE scientific research and information, this is not the book for you. However, if you're interested in candid entertaining advice about the ins and outs of pregnancy, it's a great read. She puts things into perspective, can ease some anxieties, and truly make you feel like you're not the only one that has experienced a symptom or had a strange thought. Great for personal use or even as a gift. There are also great parts to share with your partner. Will definitely be checking out others by this author. Enjoy!

Best pregnancy read yet!
This was not only informative but extremely entertaining and easy to read (I read it in a few hours!). Most pregnancy books I’ve found have been just information overload, but this one was filled with relatable stories and humor, with just enough need to know information to make it a must read for pregnancy!

I bought this book as my friends all live far away and I’m estranged from my mom. I also didn’t want to bug my friends with pregnancy questions. But this book made me NOT want to get pregnant. I felt incredibly depressed after reading. I’ve bought other pregnancy books that give hard facts and lay out reality but this book was the one that gave me the most anxiety. It was also very obsessed with gender, girls wearing pink and boy must play baseball. Surprising since the narrator is LGBT.
