Houseplant Potting Mix: Fertilized, Perlite Soil for Indoor Gardening, Designed to Be Less Prone to Gnats

Miracle-Gro is a great brand. I have not tried other brands because this one has remained consistently great. It remains on my shopping list for when I need more and is easy to recommend to others.

Twice in the last 20 years I made the mistake of buying an off brand of potting soil. Both times I was disappointed. The last time I bought an organic off brand, I ended up with a zillion gnats in my plants. I will never buy anything but Miracle-Gro again.

I didn't buy this for succulents, but I got it for making my own chunky mix for aroids. I was having the hardest time finding the right soil that wouldn't stay wet super long. I decided to try this one because it doesn't have sand and it's just a basic peat mix. And actually, it's basically just peat. If you have some amendments like worm castings and myco then you can just buy some peat for half the price and double the size. I have succulents too and I can tell you, they won't be happy in this soil straight. It would definitely need some extra stone or perlite.

Miracle-Gro is my go-to for all my flowers. I have Hens-n-Chicks that are in an old pot, which a good friend gave me several years ago. I add new potting mix to them as it gets washed out. I don't have any problems.

Used this to add to my potted houseplants. The bag is a nice size and easy to handle. I did not notice any smell. My only complaint is the bag is supposed to reseal. But it would not.
