Review: Great - For a small, portable speaker, it packs some pretty good sound. Punches above its class quite well. It obviously does not compare to more beefy systems, but for its consistent price over the years and its simple setup and usage, it absolutely is worth the money. I have purchased two of these over the years - one in 2018, and again in 2025. I'm pleasantly surprised to see the newly purchased one adopted a USB-C port for charging, despite the model inherently listing micro USB which my original purchase has. Everything still holds up and it is great for smaller environment usage. Easy to connect, has 3.5mm input for speaker usage, usage time is accurate. My only complaint is the power on/off and BT sounds play at incredibly loud volume, regardless of what level the speaker is set to.
Review: It's very good at what it does - I got this for a hospitalized friend who wanted to listen to his music rather than watch what passes for entertainment on daytime TV during his months long stay in the hospital. It had good ratings and a reasonable price so I chose it for him. My friend and I were both very pleasantly surprised at the how good it sounded, how loud it could get without being distorted and how easy it is to use. It paired with his Android phone very quickly and easily and ran for hours and hours before needing a charge. Now that he is home, he uses this outside and is very pleased with the amount of sound it puts out, even in wide open spaces. All in all it's a great package; it produces sound at a quality and volume much more than it's size would suggest, runs for hours before needing a charge and seems quite sturdy. IMO; five stars.

**Q: How is this better than the previous version?**
A: I haven't noticed this being any louder then the previous. The bass is a little better and ports are covered. I think for $33.99 when on sale it's a good deal at only $4 more then the original but at $40 Not so much. The original is $29.99.

**Q: How many watts is this? Does higher watts equal louder volume?**
A: The new SoundCore 2 has double the watts (2 x 6w instead of 2 x 3w).   But...in order to double the volume you'd need to have 10 times the watts.  So you'd need a pair of 30W speakers to double the volume.

It was instantly clear to my wife (not an audiophile, nor am I) that the SoundCore 2 sounded better.   It's just not "night and day" better, nor is it "double the volume" better.   Is it $10 worth better?   Yes...not just for the better sound, but it's been refined to be a better over all experience which I talked about in my review.

**Q: Can you use a cord to plug in directly to phone**
A: Yes, using either a male to male 3.5 mm aux cable OR a usb-c to male 3.5 mm aux cable, whichever your phone supports.  Note that there may be a noticeable lag, meaning it won't be appropriate for watching videos or playing games.  That was my experience, perhaps not all speakers have this issue.  This was on the most recent firmware (4/19/19)

**Q: Does this have a good sound quality**
A: Great sound quality. I am very impressed with it's performance.

Excellent little speaker—compact, easy to set up, and surprisingly powerful. Sound is clear and full, and it paired flawlessly with my 20-year-old TV through an Amazon Fire Stick. The large top-mounted controls are easy to use by feel, and the speaker automatically reconnects when powered on. Battery life is excellent, with a reasonable recharge time. Great performance, thoughtful design, and impressive value. Anker delivers again.
