Getting the Most Out of RootsMagic 9

Good book for RM9 users
I read the other reviews about the lighter text so wasn't sure I would purchase however in the end decided to buy. I was reasonably surprised to find that the text was not too light and can be read. A well laid out book and has been a great help in getting to grips with RM9.

interesting but not easy to use
I have been using RootsMagic since its creation. I read this book completely and learned a lot of useful little things. However, it is very difficult to quickly find your way in this book when looking for something specific. The table of contents is rather summary. Chapters are not indicated at the top of the pages and sections & subsections are not numbered. When you do not read the entire chapter, It is therefore difficult to know in which section of the chapter you are. This book is frustrating yet useful.

Comprehensive
I have upgraded from Roots Magic 7 which I knew quite well. So having bought version 9 I again bought the accompanying book. Early days but the book is comprehensive and well laid out. Lots more reading to do but a great start.

The poor print US version is same in UK
I read through the comments from buyers in the US about poor print quality and woeful illustrations. I can confirm that the quality is the same in the UK, I hoped it might be better but it is not. The printed text providing instructions is sufficiently legible to use in conjunction with the software. The greyed out illustrations are useless and mainly illegible. The content is helpful to me and I can now do things quicker rather than plondering through the help on RootsMagic 9. I will not be returning the book as I can use it. The printers should hang their head in shame.

Disappointed
The images are of very poor quality. The text is readable but the screen images are out of focus so many are unreadable. Not good in a computer help manual. I also expected the images to be coloured. The information in the text is helpful and I wish there had been a manual when I started with RM8.It could be so much better with coloured sharp screen shots

Misleading On Amazon
The preview available on Amazon shows illustrations in colour. However, the book is black and white throughout, which makes the illustrations difficult to read.
