The general exam concepts are much harder for me to grasp than those examined in the Technician test.This book helps me deal with them, not letting me be lazy, but not being overly complicated.

Mr. Buck is knowledgeable and forthright. His answers to questions were spot on.

I made it my goal in 2024 to advance to General class license, so I bought this book to help. I had already been taking online practice tests on and off for years, never getting correct answers to pass. I knew I needed some help.Well, in the beginning of the book it tells you to avoid taking any practice tests because it will make the method more difficult to master. I would certainly take practice tests on the various sub categories after reading the appropriate section of the book.Anyhow, I bought the book in January and finished it a month later and felt comfortable enough to take the test at a VE session. I signed up for one a week ago and passed, easily.I normally am a good test taker, but some of the questions on the general test can be tricky with the wording, and this book did a great job organizing the information properly in my head to make the test a breeze.

Yes, this book will help you learn the right answers on the test to pass the General exam, but it does not help you understand the concepts very well - you'll need other references to really learn the concepts.

This book is straight forward. It describes the subjects. It gives you the exact questions in the 400+ question pool along with the right (and only the right) answer to the questions.This will not teach you to be an amateur radio operator, but it will help you pass the exam so you can start learning to be a ham.

I purchased this book as a study aid to receive my General Amateur License. I read it the way Buck advises you should. Some of the test elements are more common sense to me than others and the areas I needed to study more for made this easier. I can tell you firsthand NOT seeing WRONG answers to the questions on the exam makes remembering easier. It did for my five decade old brain anyway. The day of my exam I just went through the final review section of the book twice and then once again in a couple of the areas that were harder for me to remember. Passed the test with an A only missing three questions. As a side note I purchased a different type of book for my first license (TECHNICIAN) and it had all of those wrong answers in it. That book had more on theory which is appreciated and I will use as a reference. I passed my exam but missed more questions. Buck's format is easier in my opinion and I'll be purchasing the EXTRA version very soon. When you repeatedly read the exam questions with only the correct response they just jump out at you on the exam. I feel like a smarter Ham. 73

Seriously !!!I can't say enough for Buck's series - really well-written and thoroughly covers the material.I bought all 3 license guides to study and they haven't let me down. The focus on "right answers" is a winning strategy. I've always had trouble with tests no matter how well I learned, but these books gave me the added confidence in knowing the material and tests are no longer a problem.I have now had perfect scores on both Technician and General class licenses, and the results speak for themselves. I'm already studying for Extra and will review that one accordingly. After a couple of full readings, I start taking sample tests on QRZ and it's worked very well thus far.These books also make great a great reference series after the tests, so are great additions to my bookshelf.Well done, and thanks again Buck !!!
