Not the cheapest option but always worth the extra investment. Much better quality fit, longevity and feel than other brands. The hose is very good at resisting kinks and it was easy to assemble. Very easy to wind up and feels quality

After ordering a 30m SuperFLEX hose from Gardena it suddenly struck me when researching that it's actually quite hard to buy a decent hose-reel that doesn't include a hose with it. Most of them are built in. This was the first and most promising one I found. The fact it was from Gardena a brand I own various garden items from made my purchase. It's not cheap - around £60 - especially when you consider you need to buy a separate hose connection which can cost an additional £15+ (for the Gardena one) as well. That said, I'm a little fed up of using the well known "yellow brand" for years and having their kit fall apart after a year or so. This feels pretty solid. I'd guess some sort of ABS plastic. It comes in several parts, and is a little tricky to put together, mainly around the area you have to "plumb in" the main hose connection. It took a bit of force to make sure it was seated properly, but it seems pretty solid once all together. There is a wall plate that you need to fasten onto the wall via the supplied screws. This means you can then lift the hose-reel on and off the wall at your convenience. It doesn't have to always be fixed there. The bracket is low profile enough to not be an eyesore when left there. The reel holds up to 60m of 13mm hose I believe, so it was more than enough for my 30m. It feels strong on the wall. it winds in well, especially when used in conjunction with the included angled hose guide you can fasten to the wall separately. This guide also helps to prevent your hose from kinking. That in itself feels of good, solid quality. There is a carry handle which has convenient hose-lock points on each side to tidy up your hose when not in use. It'll also prevent any water retained in the hose from spilling when moved. It's great, and has done the job nicely despite my preference being one that has the hose held internally. I've removed a star just for the price. Simply because I think at this price it should include the connection hose too. It's a relatively small criticism though. We've been using it all summer and have had no complaints about the integrity of the item itself yet. Still going strong as I hope it will for years to come.

Easy to assemble and all the fittings including the adjustable nozzle. It seems much better than my old hose , no twisting and has improved the outlet pressure. No too heavy and unreels very easily. I bought the sprinkler by the same company and it makes a great setup. The reel feels and looks high quality

The Gardena Classic wall-fixed hose reel was easy to assemble and fits well against the wall without taking up much space. The hose extends and retracts smoothly with no kinks or tangles, and the length is perfect for covering the whole garden. Everything feels solid and well-made - a big upgrade from loose hoses or cheaper reels!

Great item and bought during a Gardena sale too. Shame it's not stainless steel, but I'm really happy with it. It holds the 30 metre Gardens Superflex with ease and I'm sure I'll get a few decades of use before it goes brittle as my garden is mostly north facing (I'll update the review if and when it fails). I put some metal washers on the front and back to ease the stress on the 8mm wall plug and screws I used (also screwing into the grout, not the brick!). It does mean it can't be easily pulled off, but with safety in mind (and to a much lesser extend theft if I decide to tie the hose to the bracket) that's a good thing as it won't detach easily without a screwdriver or fall when tugged. Can definitely recommend, especially if you have a smaller hose. Tip: Make sure to drain the hose after use so no nasty stuff builds up inside!

Nice reel, bit of flex on it when rolling up due to the plastics but also due to the way it's mounted to the wall means it's more secure at the base than the top. But I have no worries around that. But I do have a complaint about it's supposedly capacity, I'm using a 25M 3/4 Hose (Gardena High Flex) and it claims to hold 35M. Now I've cut maybe 2-3M off my hose for links, meaning I'm running 22M *maybe* and unless reeled up immaculately the hose snags on the handle, for real world use id say 20M is the comfortable limit with a 3/4 Hose. Winding is easy enough although there's nothing clever going on here to keep it neat as with all these wind up reels it's a manual job to keep it from bundling up. I'm using all generic Gardena fittings with mine and I've so far had not a single drip or water so I'm happy on that front too. All in all, good reel and while a scary seeing all the pieces in the box it's really quite easy to assemble and included fixings are of good quality and well upto the job.
