This is an excellent little device to help create a really great bow hold,which can be really hard to get and then maintain.highly recommended

Bought this seeing the other reviews. As a violin teacher myself, I thought this device might be a nifty tool to help beginners get used to finger positioning on the bow. However, on placing the device onto my bow to test it, to my horror, it began peeling away at the leather grip underneath, due to the extreme levels of friction just needed to put it in the right place. However, having done the damage, I then tested the device to see if it made holding the bow any easier, and I really think that it was more of a hindrance than a benefit sadly. I had a lot of faith in this product when I bought it, but it really doesn't help, considering you are paying over £20 for it. Soon after, I put them away, never to be used again, especially not on one of my students' bows. A good idea, but unfortunately, badly executed.

While on the expensive side I realize the part research and development can add to a product's price. I am an older beginning violinist with EDS. Within the last year I fractured my right hand and middle finger in 2 places. I have never had strong hands or fingers so this teaching aide is a godsend because it gives me a great assist and support in holding the bow correctly. Without it,I doubt if I would continue on with the violin and would have to find a much easier substitute musical instrument. This appliance gives me incentive to just grab the bow and start up as I really like the feel of it and it makes me feel good that I can easily maintain a professional and enjoyable bow grip. The initial period of mastering the violin is the most demanding and this appliance smooths the way and makes eventual success very likely.
