I’m in the middle of a deck project replacing my deck boards with IPE (Brazilian hard wood). On the end boards I need to screw the in from the surface which means drilling a chamfered hole deep enough to plug after it’s screwed in. The bits I’ve been using in my chamfering tool last 30 or 40 holes before they break and they pack with IPE dust that you must clean out after each hole. I’ve been using these bits for a week now and the first thing I noticed is that the IPE dust does not stick in the grooves or if it does it falls out with a light tap. I suspect these bits have a better coating than what I have been using. I haven’t counted the number of holes I’ve drilled so far but I haven’t broken a bit yet which would have likely happened by now with my old bits. So far, I’m very happy with these and as a plus, they are not expensive.

I use these to drill pilot holes for all other drilling I need to do in a variety of steel and other metals. They hold up well and bite cleanly. Have been using in both a press and portable drills with no breakage.

Ok, so these drill bits far exceeded my expectations given how reasonably they are priced. For context, I have a rooftop deck that had rather expensive wood boards for its flooring, so when the roof beneath began to leak (a total nightmare), I wanted to pull up the boards and save them for reuse after the roofers finished their work. Alas, when I tried to unscrew the boards, I found that the dum-dums who installed them stripped about 90% of the screw heads, all of which were countersunk into the wood. Infuriating. My next thought was to drill out the heads using a metal drill bit, all while trying to keep things economical, and then pry up the boards afterward. While laborious, this strategy did end up working. I bought this pack of drill bits under the thought that they were cheap and plentiful, so even if the quality sucked, I could burn through them without paying much mind to their cost. Shockingly, I found that they both outperformed and outlasted the one Milwaukee bit I picked up from Home Depot that cost $5 on its own! Each bit handled about 25 screw heads before dulling significantly, and this, without trying all that hard to preserve them. I don't know what else to say but that I can't recommend them highly enough!

I drill a lot of holes in hardy board which is basically what they use for siding now days. It's feels like concrete and wood fibers. Tends to dull out drill bits pretty fast. These cheap bits get a few less holes drilled than the expensive ones but hold up just fine considering I throw the name brand one out all the time. Definitely more economic, not sure how they hold up on metal.

These drill bits are sharper than the CRL ones I typically use. The only drawback is that they are more brittle so you have to be careful while drilling.
