I am obsessed with this book. I know very little about gardening, and yet I know what kind of books work for me! This book has so many helpful resources, especially the fact that the designs help you see the plans you want to use in scale instead of just showing random pictures of plants without a real sense of how big they are or where they would fit in with other plants. I’m so grateful for this author for putting this book together for people like me who need both inspiration and the knowhow for designing a garden or working with somebody who can design the garden for me,

This book helped me immensely in landscaping my front property from a large, water thirsty lawn area to a California native pollinator garden. The book contains beautiful photos of a variety of landscaping ideas and illustrations including plant profiles. Highly recommend.

Nice topo layouts w phot-like pictures of them. Nice photos & description of plants as well. Should have a larger section of low water suggestion.

This was a gift for my sister-in-law and she was delighted.

This book really gives you a lot of good ideas on how to set up your garden and what plants to use. It also tells you what type of shade or full sun it needs and the time of year that they bloom, so in case you want to create your own plant layout, you know which plants will flourish in the different areas of your yard. It also tells you how tall and wide the plants grow. I love all of the colorful pictures. You get an idea of what you should expect as a newbie gardener like me. Love, Love!!

I was a bit disappointed in this book. Almost all of the illustrations in the book are drawings that make it difficult to tell what the plants really look like, only the most general compositional effects (e.g., colorful blobs next to long green fronds). The photographs they've included are much more interesting than the drawings, but the plants aren't labeled. Also, they frequently reused the same plants in the different examples. Although this is ok to a degree, I was expecting to encounter a wider variety of plants and some more creative combinations.

This book is a perfect source for a California hobbyist landscaper.Filled with realistic and beautiful landscape designs that are easy to apply to a home residence.Bought this book to avoid hiring a designer, select the right plants, and create a beautiful outdoor space.Very useful.

Beautiful book, it was to be a gift but I returned it.
