Excellent! Especially for left handed woodcrafters
This is the best addition to my worshop in years and I’m going to slowly buy the rest of the pull saws in the collection. The weight, balance and quality are excellent and the blade is unbelievably sharp with a very thin kerf.As a lefthanded guy, this is the easiest handsaw I’ve ever used. People are probably scratching their heads on that but here’s why. Right handers draw lines away from the body and lefties draw lines toward the body. I have always hated handsaws because pushing away straight, even with my right hand isn’t a natural action and I bind it because I naturally put weight on the pull. Today I made 10 perfectly accurate cuts completely effortlessly with my Suizan pull saw right out of the very nice packaging. This blade is completely worth the price for the quality. It’s also very nice looking. I so wish I would have bought one years ago.

No going back. It's just that good.
My first time with a flush cutting saw and there's no going back. The size is perfect for my little projects, it's cuts well, the blade is sturdy while very flexible, and it feels comfortable in the hand. I should have bought one of these years ago. And I love that if the need ever arises I can easily replace the blade.

Excellent hand saw!!
I needed a saw to cut the legs off a stool evenly. I set up 2 pieces of wood 4 inches high on either side of the legs for both measurement and so the saw could lay flat and I began to saw. What an excellent job this saw did! It cut quickly and smoothly, while remaining flat. The flexibility of the saw allowed me to hold the handle up while applying pressure to keep it flat. Every leg was perfectly and expertly cut off with baby backside smoothness! Highly recommend this saw!!

An amazing saw at a great price.
I bought this saw several months ago thinking it was an affordable way to try out the Japanese approach to fine cut saws. I've been thoroughly impressed with the design and performance of the saw, I just wish I'd known about them decades ago.The basic concept of the pull cut saw means that since the blade is under tension when pulled through the wood, the blade can be made thinner, allowing for the thinner kerf. For me personally, the pull cut allows me to be more accurate in my cuts and the folding design means I can safely store the saw just about anywhere. Add to that, this has rip cut and cross cut edges on the same saw so it takes the place of two tools and saves storage space. If all of that isn't enough, replacement blades are available at an affordable price should the need arise (I've considered ordering one to have on hand just in case but haven't gotten around to it yet). I'd really like to get the folding Dozuki offered by Suizan but so far this Ryoba has proven more than capable of everything I've needed in a fine cut hand saw. If you're considering adding one of the Suizan saws to your collection I highly recommend this company's products, their attention to detail and product quality is second to none and their prices are very reasonable for what they deliver.

This is my first full size pull saw and I like it.
I have a smaller one for small projects but this larger size works great for most of my work. I like the way it cuts via pulling instead of our way of pushing the blade into the workpiece.

High quality
Just what I need for my woodworking projects. Very sharp and compact.

Easier, better looking, more accurate cuts
This little saw has been a real treat to use compared to the clunky & clumsy traditional style saw I’ve used my whole life. Despite not looking like much size wise, it’s very capable and has made clean, easy work of tree pruning and DIY wood projects. Starting cuts is much easier and while my skill level doesn’t produce perfectly straight results, the “wandering” that I usually end up with is minimized with this saw. Wish I had known about these sooner!

I love this saw
This is a great saw. I use it for cutting off dowel plugs and recently it was the best solution for coping MDF crown moulding along with a grinder/flapdisk. Jigsaw blades would just gum up with the wood fibers. Many of the negative reviews are people that don't understand this is a PULL saw. They complain it bent the first time they used. it. You CANNOT bend this if you use it correctly. The force is on the pull, not the push.Second, many complain that the blade rusts. The saw says "made in Japan", so I'm thinking this is good quality steel (seems like it). It's probably good to protect it with wax or something similar. People tend to be used to stainless steel, etc., which won't rust but also won't hold its sharpness. Finally, many 1 star reviews are people complaining it isn't good on tree branches. It's not made for that use and those people should be stared at with deep contempt, while shaking your head and kicking dirt in their general direction.Overall, this saw is a pleasure to use. I've only used the less aggressive side, and can still cut through a 2x4 (accurately) in about 5 strokes.I'm probably going to buy more and give as gifts at Christmas. This sounds like a paid review, but I assure you it is not. See my other reviews.
