Penn Squall Lever Drag 2-Speed Trolling Fishing Reel

100# .55mm braid expect to get 750-770 yards. Good news: I can load two reels with one 2000yd spool and still have leftover. Bad news: I bought 10,000 yards of braid before I knew:facepalm: Other than that they are great reels.

I got mine on sale almost 40% off. Reel works great in 1st gear but My 2nd gear is gone, completely slips and I can’t use it. Defective reel. Low gear takes about 15 mins to reel in 600yards . 4 stars because Amazon refunded me 100% ..& other than that I love this reel, gonna use the money to get it repaired now.

I took this out to florida for some land-based shark fishing and worked like a dream. Spooled it up with about 750yds of 150lb braid and was bringing in 5-6 footers with ease. The lever system is so smooth it felt like I was playing a video game unlike the penn senators I used previously. Wish I could have hooked into some bigger boys because I’m sure this thing would be able to bring in anything up to maybe 10-11ft paired with a suitable rod.

I’ve taken the real on two trips cleaned everything after the trips but while I was reeling it in from a 300yd drop it strips in high gear every other rotation

I've had this reel for several years and still works like brand new. It say recommends 50 pound test but I've been using 120 pound due to the fact i fish around oilfield platforms all the time without any problems.

So, I bought this reel 3 years ago and I am by no means a fishing expert. I fish off of Okinawa, Japan for Mahi, Wahoo, and Marlin. Until a few weeks ago, I'd only caught MahiMahi with this reel, but it's true test came around two weeks ago, whenI caught the 10 ft 350 lb Pacific Blue Marlin in the associated pictures. This reel performed admirably, and if I had more experience, I would have set the drag a little tighter, but that is on me. Solid reel at an okay price that will get the job done provided your line, swivels, knots, and lures don't fail you first.

I use these as my offshore trolling reels. I have eight of these and they’ve proven to be great reels for offshore fishing. Very durable, I just rinse them after use. They’re 50 class reels so not small or light weight, but they work well for big fish.

I give it 2 stars because it has 2 gears. The top gear is very stiffIt has a peculiar design fault, common to all Penn reels, there is no line feeder to spread the line across the reel, as a result the line becomes bunched up in one corner or the other, of the reel, instead of being distributed evenly along the drum.I had to pay for the postage for returning it but received no refund so lost on the cost of the item as well as the postage

We liked this product and thought it was very well made and suitably strong - beware it is a large reel

Great reel carry a lot of line, classy and strong enough to catch monisters, light weight I liked it too much, price also is good and affordable.
