The Periodic Table in Minerals Collection In 1869, Dmitry Mendeleyev sat down with some scraps of paper and designed a chart that systematically grouped the chemical elements known at the time. This same chart is still growing year by year as new elements are discovered, but its name remains the same: The Periodic Table.
