Let Me Be a Woman: Notes to My Daughter on the Meaning of Womanhood : Elisabeth Elliot: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Brilliant book - We worth reading Review: Loved it - So worth the read. Amazing advice. A great book for single and married women. As a "modern" young woman I found some of it hard to take in but it does seem that marriages that follow the principles mentioned in this book tend to be happier and healthier. Her daughter has now been happily married for decades so this advice must be worth listening to.

One of my favorite lines is (paraphrased) is 'the best wife is maternal ...
This book has been a blessing! And it will also be a blessing for any woman (especially Christian woman) wanting to claim her femininity, whether married or single, young or old. This book is a collection of letters from Elisabeth Elliot to her daughter who was about to be married, advising her on what it means to be a woman. It's short but potent!! It argues that women are different from men and that we have freedom and we are our true selves when we accept our God-given gender role as fundamental to our identity. There's a recurring theme of DISCIPLINE as FREEDOM! One of my favorite lines is (paraphrased) is 'the best wife is maternal and sensual!' isn't that so true lol?

This book has been a true Blessing to me. ...
This book has been a true Blessing to me. In this day and age, being a Christian Woman has its challenges. The author uses original Christian principles to remind us of our roles and gifts as Women. I've had so much peace reading this book.

I'd recommend it to anyone embarking on marriage
A delightful read. I'd recommend it to anyone embarking on marriage ... I am so glad I stumbled upon it. It's for "all times" + in my eyes not old fashioned at all.

Beautiful book
A beautifully written and insightful book talking honestly about being a woman of God, specifically in the marriage context. It took a lot of humility to read this as a 21st century woman, but doing so was rewarding!

It is a must book for every Christian woman. It has changed me forever (after ripping me into pieces initially). Whether single, committed, married or considering marriage etc. it is an eye opener for women to discern who they really are & the purpose God made them for. I love the way Elizabeth Elliot has written this for her daughter. She is very honest! All her years of experience, being in the mission field or in a city, being single, married, widowed etc. has been beautifully put in these pages. There is so much to learn from the life of this bold & graceful woman of God. I'd bought this book from a book store few months ago but lost it during a train journey couple of weeks ago (It probably went with the blankets & sheets... but hope another woman finds it & benefits from it). Was so happy to see it in amazon & so ordered it again. :)

Excellent read and one every woman should read, especially if she is engaged, newly married, or her daughter is. It contains lots of marriage wisdom and encouragement from a Christian perspective that is missing in today's culture.

En des termes très simples, l'auteure présente ce qu'est le mariage et quelles sont les prérogatives de chaque partie (homme et femme; en particulier la femme) pour que celui-ci fonctionne.
