his love of flying led him to become a founding member ...
An enjoyable read. "Thankful" is a charming and very personal rememberance of the highlights of a man's life. Frank Coble was indeed a Rennisance man - physician, pilot, "botonist and farmer" and loving family man. His memories of his years as a general practitioner making housecalls recalls an era when practicing medicine was much more personal. At the same time, his love of flying led him to become a founding member of Flying Physicians. A group of doctors who provided charitable medical care to those in need. His recounting of life at Fieldcrest farm gives a glimpse into his love of family life. Finally, his diary of a youthful adventure to Europe prior to WWll is exilarating. By the time I finished the book, I had developed a personal interest in his life and given the opportunity would like to have known him better.
