You do not want to use Leather Star on alcantara. You can use Koch-Chemie's Pol Star to clean alcantara leather

Is it effective on pleather/vinyl seats as in the model 3? Or in most modern cars which have plastic coating on the leather from the factory?

Leather star is a gentle and efficient cleaner and protectant for leather, You can use it on vegan leather as in the Tesla, I’m really not sure about “plastic coatings” used on leather seats. There are other products better suited for vinal seats.
