For people using this with the Bosch Universal Plus: did this end up scratching up your mixing bowl?

It did not scrape up my bowl. It only sits on the post on the middle at the top. That way there is room for the ice to completely surround the ice cream bowl to help freeze the ice cream. You definitely need to add the rock salt to the ice when making the ice cream, but I use this all the time since we mostly eat homemade ice cream every weekend all year long.

Is this compatible with the older bosch universal mixers? i have one that is about 20 yrs. old.

I'm not sure. My mixer is only one year old.
