Q: what is the difference in the 1420 vs 1400? thank you

The 1400 is a grey color, mine also quit on me without warning. It then shorted any battery that was attached to it. Trying to get in contact with EGO was (and still is) impossible due to the fact they have one single phone number as a point of contact, no webform, no email nothing. The 1420 has a carbon fiber look to it, the power trigger also has an extra safety feature to stop the unit from accidently engaging. The speed indicator also lights up. The shaft is also carbon fiber.

True Hi/lo switch. Noticable power change. Does the job very well.

Q: Ego customer service says 1400 powerhead works with the ea0800 edger. but some q/a says the 1400 doesn't fit the ea0800. which is true?

I have both the PH and the Edger and it works fine - I also have the polesaw and cultivator - great set
