Great buy
The media could not be loaded. I bought this used described as good condition which it is (there's a tiny dogeared part on the front cover and a little bit of discolouration on the outside), the inside is pristine. The content is well thought out and presented, instructive and easy to follow and you get a lot for the money. I am very, very pleased with my purchase.

Great book on sketching!
This book provides some good inspiration for sketching! I'm going through this book after reading 'how to draw with your right brain' (great book by the way) and am finding that my technique is improving by leaps and bounds by applying the lessons learnt from the other book and copying some of the sketches and adding my own individual slant to it. In fact, like it so much that I've bought the same book for my sister!

OK but too many people
Should be called "Drawing PEOPLE, A complete guide for people who are already good at drawing". In other words, it's not really a book for beginners, although it has some simpler drawings in it, it's mostly portraits. And difficult ones, without a whole lot of discussion of how the effects are achieved. But if you're already half decent at drawing, it'll give you a lot of help.I believe it would be good if it were structured from easy to difficult, but on just p14, there are exceptionally advanced portraits (see photo). And its also useful to know: there are a full 60 pages of nudes. I put the photos on here before but my review was deleted, which tells me they're too extreme to even appear on an amazon review! Some odd poses, like a naked woman doing a handstand with her legs spread. I'm including a few censored pictures here.In the book's favour, lots of varied drawings of people, and the artist is clearly skilled, and gives some advice about composition. There is a section on buildings and landscapes.Disappointingly, I didnt see anything on drawing animals, and very little about drawing everyday objects. I also wished the drawings were darker /higher contrast, and the text was larger.Overall, good if you want to improve your portrait skills, but if you're less talented or want more variety, try another book.

Best guide I've met.
Whatever your question about drawing, there will be help in this book. Graphite or pencil? How to draw an eye? Body dimensions? How to shade an evening landscape? There are dozens of detailed examples on each topic with succinct descriptions of how each drawing illustrates a particular point. There are 62 fascinating pages on portraying hands and feet alone, another 62 on portraiture, and so on. Even if you never pick up a pencil, after reading this book you will look at the world differently and with greater appreciation.

I can't sketch.
Maybe, if i were to read this, (i got it as a pressie for a friend) then i would improve greatly. It seems to be well written & illustrated, packed with tips & examples. Things like what shading to use & when, How to get the shapes first time etc. I would get it again for me, if felt inclined to start..
