Tough As They Come
I bought 2 of these & I have put them through the ringer; landed a 6ft tiger shark, multiple 30lb+ redfish & been spooled off so hard that the reel was hot to the touch, twice! Yet, it still reels as smoothly as the day I opened it up. It is the best, most durable big game spinning reel I have ever seen.

Good Value
I used two of these reels on 2 separate salt water off-shore charters, mainly deep water dropped bait use, but some limited casting. They held up well, and had no problem handling 20+ pound Red Snapper and King Mackerel. I had no mechanical issues or breakdowns with either reel. Would they hold up to daily, hard use is a different question. But for my limited salt water fishing availability (live in the mid-west, visit coast 1-2 times a year) they fit my needs at a reasonable cost. I also used one reel to catch several 15+ lb. freshwater catfish with no issues this past summer.

I went from being worried to ordering two of them!!! Great value and good quality!
Compared to a penn they are probably sized at about 7000 range. 10000 is a little oversized for what it really is. On most rigs the only difference between a 7000 - 10000 range is the spool capacity and the main frame is almost the same. This reel will work on anything from big cats and striper bass to good sized sharks. The drag is great with plenty of adjustment for the exact drag tension needed. At first glance you would expect it to be at least a 100 dollar reel. Now the difference between a Penn and this reel would be for example: Your rigs falls into the rocks off the peer and the penn gets bent up alittle, while this reel would be more apt to break compared to the penn body. When it comes to catching fish they will both fill the boat. If your a professional get the Penn. If you fish less than 50 times a year you will love this reel, and most pro's I believe would find it to be a nicer reel certainly better than the average wal-mart stuff.

Do not buy
Been fishing for 40 years. Used this reel on a one-weekend trip at the beach, and flushed it out after every use. The ball bearings are now seized, and the reel is no longer operable. Definitely recommend a different brand.

Good for the price
A few minor parts came off after about 9 months of moderate use. The reel still works.
