Impressive Koncept 3rd Generation Lamp ~ Lightweight, Low Heat, Impeccable Design and Good Coverage...
I needed a light that could be used for a keyboard to read music, as well as for the desk...one that didn't get so hot like my full spectrums. I had read on another site a rave review by a pianist. So, that put it on my watch list, but ZOIKS, it was pricey. Plus 2nd and 3rd Gen models were being advertised together. Were the improvements worth 50 bucks? Possibly. When you start at $279, 50 bucks really isn't much difference. So I took the plunge once I got enough pennies and purchased...and was happy as soon as I opened the box.The Koncept Z-bar floor lamp is incredibly lightweight and easy to assemble. Intuitive assembly - you really don't need to read the directions, Bright without the heat. It will travel well IF you treat it with respect, and baby the LED head. I've never seen a lamp packaged so well with THOUGHT; the packaging assembly is high quality. It was shorter than I anticipated, cuz if you use it as pictured and sit at a desk, the light will fall immediately above your book. If you play a piano, that means toward the bottom of your music stand. I do think Koncept offers a taller model of an LED light, but not a Z-bar.My only complaint was that I ordered this as BLACK and received SILVER ~ I do not have time to return it as I need it on location. So be forewarned that my box was mislabeled black by the vendor but the Koncept box said silver. Obviously it was silver - a brushed aluminum, not chrome - which made keeping it palatable. This lamp appears to be 3rd generation - which is not mentioned in the description. I purchased because the price point said it was 3rd generation; I had researched the differences at the Koncept site. The strip for dimming takes some getting used to as I tended to inadvertently touch it when grabbing the light, thus alter my setting. The names for the levels of brightness were misleading to my brain, so I chose the wrong one. Also one of the vendor's description was lacking. So, to be clear here, Warm White is NOT bright white per se - it is about 3500K. Cool White IS bright white but with a bluish tint if you put them side by side. It is 4500K. I know that now, post purchase, as I wanted the bluer one. I'd really like LEDs to talk in lumens as that helps me choose better to replace my incandescents.All-in-all, this is a keeper and I will buy more of the Koncept line. I'll just take me several months to save up enough to get a Black floor lamp with Cool White light at over 3C notes per lamp.

I may top the list of fanatic purchasers -- (six!) and I'm not flush. I own two Gen 2. silver. Koncept made a huge advance with Gen 3. I bought FOUR more. Three floor models, one table/and/or piano task light. While for some the running of the hand (or finger) may take some getting used to --- for me, this variability is most desirable. Although many say unobtrusive -- I think these fine reviews fall short. This is exactly what you want with great lighting. Flexibility, variability, invisibility, stability. I own many paintings in 1200 sq. foot space. Also, a piano, two Mac laptops that need focused light. As an artist, I've lit my glass enclosed assemblages. No reflective glare if positioned with some pleasurable 'experimentation. Finally. the packaging and amazingly fast assembly make Koncept Gen 3 improvements over Gen 2 well worth the added price. In fact, my few other lamps -- each unique -- in a space with no ceiling lights -- seem clunky, have a 'voice' too specific to go un-noted. Gen 3's virtual disappearing act is universally noted. I'd best close by making summary: great focused light when and to what degree you want it --- general illumination if you need that -- a dinner party for instance, a client who arrives after dark. Yes, this is my consulting/artist studio as well. As an old ad said: Try it! You'll like it! Make that "love". You are about to buy a work of enduring functional art. Koncept! would you like to hire me for PR? Copy? Anyone? Please note: this is independent, spontaneous enticed independent purchaser.

Great lamp
A very nice lamp. The LEDs should last you the rest of your life basically at 50,000 hrs so it kind of pays for itself assuming it doesn't fail in another way.I like the cool tone - it's easier on the eyes, imo. The touch sensor is great - just touch anywhere on it or slide your finger to turn it on to varying degrees of brightness. This could be more precise but it's plenty good as is. I think that the touch panel should have been located on the first, vertical shaft as opposed to the middle, angled shaft - the way I have my lamp now and how most would have it - I find that its actual location is a bit hard to operate while sitting (although do-able).I use this for reading and for lighting my small apartment living room - sometimes to brighten up the place and sometimes to throw a dim light on the wall at night when I'm watching tv. (I like how you can face the light bar in any way - I like to point it back and up a wall.)My father has the previous generation and I much prefer this one because of its touch sensor and the greater number of LEDs (it's supposed to be brighter too.)

Great brightness
We purchased this light a couple of years ago and it broke. The versatility of the arms was not available in other lights, so we opted to repurchase. The on/off switch is now a graded bar and is a pain. I am also concerned that the price is way out of line for a light that only lasted a few years. We tried to contact the company to help us fix the first one and could not reach anyone.
