Best poached eggs, easy process, easy clean up. Versitle for yummy, healthy meals.
Visted friends last week who served up some perfect poached eggs for our breakfast. I had to have an egg poacher and had had pans and cups style poachers. BUT when I saw these happy little cuplets, dishwasher proof, microwavable, I had to have them. I used them this morning and the poached egg (5 min) was perfect.I used the plastic brush to coat the inside of the cup with butter, and then laid the egg inside. Easily, put them in a boiling, covered pot for 5 min, and, excellent. Oh, and STORAGE is a tiny part of a drawer! not a pan size space at all!! Great for small storage spaces.Next time, I'll doll them up with spices, color and more, but for the first test run, I'm so happy! The eggs, the poacher, the process is simple, quick and delicious, the clean up almost instantaneous! Way faster than scrambled or fried pans!I recommend getting these for yourself, for busy morning households, gifts for others, stocking stuffers for college students; and I got a set for my vacation rental studio too. PLUS, they are just happy!!

Perfectly Poached Eggs
These egg poacher boats are well designed and functional. Reading other’s review on some of the criticism may suggest they lack cooking technique. I use Pam to coat the interior of each boat then add a pat of real butter. Pam is sufficient to reduce sticking but coupling it with butter adds to the coating and enhances taste. I am careful not to start with too much water in the pot and only fill it to 1/4 or less. Too much water causes splashes during boiling, which boils the egg from the top instead of steaming. I bring the water to a high boil then reduce it to a gentle boil before introducing an egg. I break my egg directly into a boat and use a long handled tong to place the boat into the water. I set the timer for 15-20 minutes for soft eggs with a bit of juice; or 20-25 minutes for very firm eggs. Prepare your serving plate by folding a paper towel in half. Place it across the center of the plate. Using tongs, remove a Boat from the pot with tongs and use your other hand to guide it over the plate. Tilt the boat. The egg will slide onto the paper towel. Bend the paper towel ends up and pat any water on the egg. Finally, take both ends of the same paper towel and flip gently flip it over onto the plate. Discard the paper towel. Eggs will always need to be dried a little even if the water doesn’t boil on them. They’re cooking in hot water with a lid, which creates steam, then condensation inside the pot. Many chefs poach eggs by breaking them into a pan of boiling water, which requires draining and drying. These cute boats are actually pretty phenomenal and well thought out by someone who understood poaching eggs. Did I mention that 4 boats were less than $2 each? Enjoy.

A good product.
These work well. I'm glad I bought them. The one issue is cleaning them. What I found is to turn them inside out and put them in the top rack of the dishwasher. I would prefer to wash them by hand but that just does not work very well. They do seem to sit well in the pan -- they don't tip over. And the cooking instructions are excellent. I've used them a bunch of times and recommend them.

So Easy to Make a Poached Egg!
I haven’t tried in a microwave yet, but the egg cups in water works very well. I coat the inside of the cup with butter and boil for five minutes. Just right! The cups clean up in a jiffy!

Cute silicone cups but not for microwave eggs
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I wanted to replace a very old microwave egg poacher. Thought these would do the job. Not so. Making "poached" style eggs in these is near impossible in the microwave. The egg is either under cooked or explodes. Still experimenting with power levels and cook times. I'm sure these would be great for poaching eggs the old fashioned way - in a pan of water with a lid. I'll likely be using these as mise en place bowls. Which is fine. They wash up well in the dishwasher.

20 minutes in boiling water for runny yolks
Wish I had read some of the negative reviews before buying. Maybe there is variability in the thickness? No issues with sticking or taste, but whites aren't even set at 15 minutes in boiling water. Look elsewhere or hope you get lucky.
