No Frills, Just Works *by R***D on December 24, 2023* Works perfectly! Super easy to use, just a power switch and two buttons for light and black light. The template that comes with it makes it even easier to check bills. Seems sturdy enough for regular use. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Disregard bill alignment line and use your best judgement *by B***I on November 10, 2023* I’ve worked for a bank. Devices like this are common, though not as inclusive as this model. We’re trained in detecting fraudulent bills, but sometimes we just want another source for validation. Because of my experience, I’m going to be a bit pickier than your typical reviewer.Pros: it has a UV light in the bed so you can see the embedded stripes through the bills. The watermark light is bright and helps to clearly see the subtle details of the bills. The UV lights are bright and work really well. Having all three light tests in the same unit is very convenient. When you use the US Dollar template over the light, it is fairly accurate and helps to check that the bill’s amount matches the embedded stripe.Cons: the “Align Bill Here” line is misleading. You cannot depend on the color band chart in the front of the detector if you align the edge of the bill with that line. I’ve included pictures where the stripe is aligned with the check-line to show how the left-edge of the bill does not align with the front, but centers fairly well on the template.As long as employees are using common sense, I’m sure that perfect alignment won’t matter too much, but I’ve worked with some OCD folks in this field and this could irritate them. I’m fine with it, though.Is it worth the $60 price tag?Well, counterfeit test markers can dry out, LED flash lights can be dim in the ambient light. If you are not trained regularly on detecting non-counterfeit bills, and you handle money a lot… or if you’re like me and just like a second opinion to validate hunches every now and then, I’d say this is worth the investment. I’d gladly put this up near a drive-through teller who wanted to do that extra security checking.
