an extra spicy christmas movie feast
Teddy has a problem. He’s producing a movie for the pristine Hope Channel, a holiday movie that is being shot over Christmas. He has less than three weeks to complete filming in Christmas Notch, Vermont. And his leading actress has had to pull out of the film at the last minute. And when he was talking to his director Gretchen about a replacement, she noticed someone who caught her eye. Gretchen insisted on her, a voluptuous edgy actress she’d not seen in anything before. So he called up Bee Hobbes and asked her to star in the Hope Channel movie he was producing, Duke the Halls.Technically, Bee worked for Teddy already. But she worked under for his Uncle Ray-Ray production company that also produced movies with a quick turnaround. But those were adult films, and she starred in them as Bianca von Honey. Now, she’s Bee Hobbes, a young actress with a squeaky clean reputation, or the whole project would be scrapped. And she really wanted to make this movie, especially since he costar is none other than Nolan Shaw.Nolan Shaw was a member of the boy band INK, the bisexual bad boy who squandered a lot of his earnings before his sketchy manager took off with the rest. Now he’s living in Kansas City and working at a local theater. His mother struggles with her mental health, and he didn’t want to leave her alone with his younger sister Maddie, who is still in school, but filming Duke the Halls is his first step in rehabilitating his reputation and proving he can be a responsible performer. Plus, he could really use the money for his mother’s health care.Nolan is committed to keeping his head down and his nose clean. But then he finds out that his costar, Bee Hobbes, is the same woman who haunts his fantasies as well as his phone. He is a subscriber to her ClosedDoors account, and meeting Bianca von Honey in person is almost enough for him to forget about why he’s there. Almost. And then they kiss. The first scene they film is toward the end of the movie, where the duke and the time-traveling runaway bride declare their love for each other and kiss. And the kiss is far hotter than either Bee or Nolan expects. Or maybe they did expect that, as Bee was a fan of Nolan back when he was in the boy band and she was in high school, and Nolan is a fan of Bianca. Now all they have to do is keep filming this chaste film for a channel known for its modesty, with a producer who makes adult movies and a script with no ending (the screenwriter, Gretchen’s girlfriend, can’t seem to figure out that last line about what Christmas means), in a town that doubles as a set for holiday movies. Everything has to be by the book. Unsullied. Squeaky clean. So no one can know when Bee and Nolan start hooking up in secret. And that’s when Dominic Diamond, the reporter who destroyed Nolan’s career the first time, shows up to town. Will Bee and Nolan be able to survive all the forces trying to keep them apart? Or will they find their own happily ever after after all?A Merry Little Meet Cute is an extra spicy holiday rom com with lots of laughs and lots of very hot love scenes. The characters are likable, smart and compassionate and accepting. The juxtaposition of the adult film industry insiders working on the Hope Channel movie offers lots of room for hijinks, but there is also a respect for all lifestyles.I listened to A Merry Little Meet Cute, with Bee’s chapters narrated by Joy Nash and Nolan’s chapters narrated by Sebastian York. I thought both of them were perfect in their roles, bringing these characters to life, with all their snark and intelligence. However, there were scenes that would make listening to this book awkward in public, so that’s something to keep in mind as you listen.I loved A Merry Little Meet Cute. I thought it was engaging and charming, and it offers a different perspective on holiday shenanigans and those holiday movies on that greeting card channel. It is extra spicy, so prepare for those ghost pepper moments (or maybe I’m just used to vanilla rom coms). But this book is lots of fun and filled with life and laughter.

An Average Little Meet-Cute
Synopsis: Bee Hobbes (a.k.a. Bianca Von Honey) a successful plus-sized adult film star with a huge following online has been cast last minute to step in to fill a role for another star who got sick at a hot yoga retreat. Many other adult-film workers were also brought on when a bunch of workers were hurt at a burning-man type venue, because the director is “going straight” and rebranding from the adult film industry to the very family friendly industry. Bee’s co star will be the former boy-band pop sensation she has been madly in love with since her teen years. All of the adult-film workers have been asked to keep their pasts quiet so that the director can make this squeaky clean family movie. Except that the workers spend their after hours at places like The North Pole, and getting drunk at the local bar, all spouting their mouths off about themselves, and everyone already knows who they are anyway.Nolan Shaw has some skeletons in his past that he is trying to bury, and is hoping to do so with this fluffy family movie. And he was on track to do so.. Until his sex idol Bianca Von Honey waltzes onto the set, and now Nolan wants nothing more than to put his hands all over her every chance he gets. He has been following her ClosedDoor account for 6 years now, he’s a top tier member! Now he is trying to hide his feelings for Bee, when the reporter who ruined his career comes waltzing onto the Christmas set, snooping around for the new scoop, hoping at every turn that Nolan will live up to his bad boy rep. This book was full of funny one liners, and a few well written scenes, but it seriously needed a heavy handed editor and possibly a rewrite. The premise was great, but this book could have been amazing if it had gone through a few more editing processes! Here are some things I hated--The words “gingerbread lotion” is used no less than 11 times. And if I have to ever read that again in this context I might be sick. Gross.-The reader is lead to believe toys would come into play WAY more often than they actually did, and I for one was quite disappointed that the fun trunk was never utilized.-The horrible euphemisms need to stop. Like. Right. TF. NOW. Now, I get it, we don’t want to use the same words over and over, that is repetitive and boring! But when you describe ladybits as a “well” and her cl*t as a “needy button”, it makes me think of the big, red “easy” button on the staples commercial that one can just press and org*sms just occur. In our dreams, ladies, in our dreams…-Honestly, the way Nolan keeps talking about Bee’s body as if it is his to own, just because he paid for a subscription to it for the past 6 years makes me really sick. In fact, they both have these weird fascinations and infatuations with each other as objects and not as people, and that is super cringy.-I love a good plus-size FMC or MMC! Seriously, make all the characters plus size! But there is a difference between subtle hints that the readers can infer from, and the constant reminder that yes, she is in fact over weight. That is what we hear. All.the.time. The inner dialogue is about the size. The characters mention the size. Everything revolves around the size (like, her not fitting into any of the dresses, or the chairs, or things were made for skinny people, etc etc etc)-I also love a good story about business women (and for that matter, good business practices, and ethical managers and businesses) but again, every few sentences all the book talked about was how Bee was a p0rn star. We hear ya, she, and the others, worked in the adult-film industry. Loud.and.clear.-Again, I love books with good representation! But every few sentences it talked about how Bee had two moms. She was OBSESSED with having two moms. We RARELY hear about any of the other characters' parents, why is that? Why is it so important we know that Bee has two moms? Did you know Bee had two moms? Bee has two moms. Two moms. The two moms Bee has. Two moms had Bee. Two moms. One mom, two mom.-We are told over and over how Christmassy this Christmas town is. From the snow, to the silly street names, even to the “North Pole” pole dance/strip club with strippers with reindeer names. Clever? Maybe. Or maybe just over the top.I love Sierra Simone, I have read all of her work! And I love Julie Murphy, I have read most of her work! This is the first time I have been *meh* about their books. I have more to rant about, but 2 pages is more than enough….The audiobook narrators were good. Sebastian York could read me the childhood story “The Night Before Christmas” and it could sound sexy. He is probably the only reason I listened to this book as long as I did.

So much good in between the pages
There is so much to unpack in this romcom meets erotic romance!!! First I love that Bee is doing what she loves regardless of the feedback because she is a normal person with dreams and aspirations but handles the feedback believable. Nolan is bad boy turned secretly still bad (but in all the good ways). The fact that they Bee gets her own meet cute by landing the role opposite Nolan is super cute for her. And a happily ever after has never hurt anyone. This was sweet, surprising, steamy and silly enough for me to laugh and root for Nolan to get his shit together and Bee to finish the movie. Can't wait to see if there will be books about the other members of INK as well since their storylines had me wanting to know more.

Christmas Spice
I’ve heard a ton about this book and it was probably my most anticipated Christmas book this year. I did really enjoy it but I do feel like it was a bit slow to me. I wanted something more to happen. It felt like the storyline kind of kept working in circles and the characters kept having the same conversations over and over. It just got a bit worn out. I’ll definitely still get book two as I did enjoy the story overall.

Smutty Christmas romance
I mainly picked this up because I thought it was a cute festive romance that would be a great palette cleanser, however, I was surprised to find how smutty the book is from the beginning. It didn't put me off and I did finish it but the fact it wasn't what I thought it was going to be, kind of put a damper on my enjoyment while reading it. I don't usually read Christmas romance books but I've been wanting to read more contemporary books rather than romantasy; that also might be why I was surprised by the plot. I'm not really sure if the main character's job is considered a spoiler but I won't include it because I didn't realise until I started reading and I hate spoilers myself. The story alternates between Bee, who has a job that is considered taboo and Nolan, who is an ex-boy band member trying to make money. They are both hired to play as the main leads in a Christmas romance movie. Unfortunately, due to varying circumstances, any form of romance between the two is forbidden. This turns out to be a difficult rule to abide by when both find the other attractive. Bee and Nolan spend the story trying to fight off their desire while also trying to hide secrets that could be the end of them.
