Sadly, from the moment we connected it, we had horrible water hammer we could hear all round the house.I came across this product while searching for solutions and, despite some reviews saying it hadn't worked, or didn't cure the problem entirely, as the water hammer was so bad, I thought any improvement would help.The package arrived in good time and i was eager to know if it worked.The instructions say to attach it to the back of the washing machine. I did so, and in a few minutes it was connected. However, I discovered the product was too deep to allow the washing machine to be pushed back adequately into the recess.I removed the product very easily and installed it on the other end of the supply pipe. Within ten minutes, i had attached it, checked for leaks and had pushed back the machine in place.Turning the machine on i was pleasantly surprised to hear no water hammer at all. Nothing. It was entirely cured.I can only recommend this to anyone having problems with water hammer. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ FAB-U-LOUS *by P***R on 7 October 2016* This item was delivered within 24 hours after ordering. Came in a sealed pack.I recently had my brand new all-singing, all-dancing Samsung washing machine delivered and fitted. However, from the first wash, the water hammer situation was dreadful - it was so LOUD!I ordered this arrester and was so glad about the speedy delivery. Instructions could have been better but, as I can do my own plumbing, it took this girl less than 10 minutes to fit.I struggled a tad with undoing the water inlet hose connector from the washing machine but, once loosened, the rest was easy-peasy. No more water hammer - just the gentle sound of clothes tumbling and washing.No need to call a plumber for this! Simply do the following:1. Have at the ready:- Spanner (just in case)- PTFE Tape- Arrester- Dry cloth- An empty vessel2. Turn off the water to the washing machine/stopcock (remember how many times you turned it as you'll need to turn it back on the same number of turns)3. Put the empty vessel on the floor under the hose and disconnect the water inlet hose from the washing machine. Place the end of the hose in the empty vessel (for drainage)4. Wipe away any wet areas5. Wind clockwise the PTFE tape around the washing machine connector about 3-4 times6. Screw on the arrester to the washing machine connector and tighten7. Then, connect the water inlet hose to the arrester and hand tighten (no need to use the tape on this as the inlet hose should have a seal inside it to prevent leaks. If not, wind the PTFE tape around the arrester like before and tighten the inlet hose to it8. Turn water back on and check for leaks9. If any leaks, repeat processQuiet washing times ahead! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Better than before, but don't expect miracles *by J***W on 2 March 2021* I had a bit of water hammer noise when the washing machine switches off its water. This device reduced the hammer noise a bit, but not completely. I think I need to clip down one section of pipe upstairs where the hammer noise can still be heard. It was very easy to fit between the washing machine hose and the tap - a 2 minute job with no skill needed. I used a 3/4" or 27mmm spanner to make sure the fitting is tight.
