It's real. The software on the mini cd is legit too. Techstream worked. Not activated but it wasn't advertised as such. But they have a "patch" to install that let's you open Techstream and use it anyways. I didn't get the "subcode" to go with my current OBD2 code, I think they're called inf codes. But I have no clue if that's due to a shortcoming in the cable firmware or if I wouldn't have gotten one anyways. I've never used Techstream. Idk how subcodes work. I just saw a few places saying apps only show you the OBD but Techstream will show the subcode. I installed v18 but they also included a v17 installer. Yes it works in Windows 10 64bit. Idk why most the internet says you need old Windows 32bit. Follow the instructions on the included paper for the software or you're gonna fail, but it's not hard. Just follow the directions.

Included software works, but it’s a sketchy crack that’s available online if you google for it. This old firmware won’t write to ecu either, many tech steam features also won’t work. You’ll be restricted to reading live data, and the ability to read/clear dtcs and MILs

Once I took my time and followed the instructions everything went smooth. Was able to program windows to open with remote and many other things. Great price and good product. Works up to 2023 on Lexus and Toyota.

OK - so that y'all can have a good laugh: I managed to BURN the last remaining key for my old Toyota Tundra (the spare did not have a chip...), and needed a cable to convince the immobilizer to accept a new key or to shut up completely. Toyota has ridiculous "support" where I live, so I decided to DIY. 570 bucks for a Mongoose? LOL - let's try a cheap knock-off cable first. Mistake. Wasted countless hours trying to make it work - their instructions are missing several important points, their software is sketchy af and causes numerous virus warnings (not all of them seem to be "false positives"). And did I mention it just does NOT work if you follow their instructions? After reading many frustrated forum posts I found a few hints that actually make the cable work and get it recognized by Techstream, but depending on exact Windows version, Techstream version and your specific car you will still NOT have access to all functions, if it works at all. Verdict: for broke nerds only. Others: get a Mongoose or hire a pro who already has the equipment.

Used it to pair two key fobs. Software directions didn’t work as described so I went to archive.org and got the 14 version of techstream. The 17 version provided didn’t work but inside the 14 package version I got elsewhere was a useful file that helped instead.
