Worth a try, only time will tell.
I bought this because of the size and the price. I have several cast iron pots and pans so I know how to care for and use them. Below is my review of this piece. Seasoning It says “pre seasoned” but don't rely on that. I had to run mine through 4 courses of Seasoning over 2 days. Structure The pan is as thick as any of my other pans but I question the quality of the material and the manufacturing process. The surface of the pan is coarse and almost grainy. This gets better with Seasoning but it should not come this rough. Also, the pan seems to warp a little in high temperatures and the bottom becomes a little concave. Performance. I have now fried eggs, bacon and burgers in the pan. The eggs were after 2 seasonings and they stuck a little. The bacon and burgers were after the 4th seasoning and there was less sticking but the performance was less than I expected. Conclusion I'm going to keep using this pan and see what happens. Let's face it, at this price, (£19) you can't go too far wrong! It needs a proper breaking in and if it works, you may have a pan for life!

Takes some practice but it's worth it.
I've had a cast iron pan in the past and thought I'd get another, this is really good for the money, I've used it for about a month so far and it has worked perfectly the whole time. It is more effort than a regular pan, you need to do some research and don't expect it to be perfect straight away, wipe a little veg oil on it and stick it on the oven for an hour, do this 3/4 times in the first week and do it again every 2-4 weeks and this helps keep it non stick. Dont submerge it in water or use a dishwasher and dry thourally afterwards and even stick it on the hob for 5 mins after to get it completely dry as it can rust easily, also you want to cook with a little extra oil or fatty food to begin with but now I can cook bacon, eggs and steaks with no sticking at all. The final thing about this that is amazing is being able to put it straight in the oven for example if cooking chicken breast you can marinade or season it and fry and crisp up the skin and outside and then stick it in the oven in the pan to finish cooking. Anyways it's amazing, if you don't mind the extra time it takes when you first get it to make it into a great pan then I would 100% recommend it, if you want one perfectly non stick to start with you may have to go for a more expensive pan but this is really amazing for the price and makes the best food I've had in a long time.

Tough as nails
I have been using this pan almost daily for a while and it has served me well. It is heavy, thick walled, durable, and should last forever if you take care of it. I gave it a good clean after it arrived and applied several coats of seasoning. It has good heat retention and is good for frying and searing meat and vegetables. It is big enough for even the largest steaks. The handle can get incredibly hot so using a tea towel is advised. Cleans easily with water and a sponge, ensure it is fully dry or over time it may begin to rust.

Poor Quality with enamel chipping when hi
I was excited to pirates this cast iron pan after the positive reviews. When I received the pan, I washed it in soapy water and followed the instructions to apply a thin layer of vegetable oil on the surface of the pan and preheat the pan, crank it up to 180°C and place the pan upside down on the rack inside the oven for one hour. Then leave the pan in oven for 45 mins and flip it over to bake for an additional 15 mins. I warmed the pan on low heat and oiled it again to cook naan bread. The bread stuck to the surface of the pan and pulled off the enamel. I added a little oil again but it continued to stick. The enamel of the pan came off the surface of the pan and I had black chipped enamel pieces in the pan with the bread. I reported this to the seller and sent a photo of the broken and chipped enamel in the pan. I received a response from the seller, dismissing this defect with a 25% discount and to keep the pan. The discount was processed immediately without an opportunity to reject the offer and I was cut off to respond back to the seller. I immediately opted to return the defective item and Amazon stepped up with a refund of the balance of the item. No amount of re-seasoning can fix a broken chipped enamel car iron pan. It is recommended to avoid using a chipped and broken enamel cast iron pan for cooking. The main concern is that the chipped enamel could continue to break off, potentially contaminating your food. While the exposed cast iron is not inherently dangerous, the risk of ingesting enamel fragments is a significant health concern. Extremely disappointed with the quality of this product and the service of the seller to return it replace the defective item. I would not recommend purchasing this product.

Updated Review after 4.5 Years
Put in a bit of effort to learn to work with and clean Cast Iron cookware and the reward will be massive. I bought this after feeling like I was forever chucking out non stick pans. Once this cast iron builds up the carbon seasoning it's as non stick as Teflon but you can use metal spatulas etc. I personally find it very quick to clean but there is a knack to this. Lots of tutorials online. Once the seasoning is laid down it just takes a flash of boiling water while pan is warm and a quick wipe. Occasionally it needs a tiny squeeze of washing up liquid. Then Dry and lightly oil and it's ready to go again. Never put it in a dishwasher because this ruins the seasoning, causes rust, will make food stick and ironically make the pan hard to clean. Have used it weekly for 3 years now for frying, baking bread, cast iron pizzas, Christmas turkey, roast potatoes etc. Etc. I've also bought the lid which is fantastic. It holds residual heat well and that helps get the searing sorted and the return from flavour is massive. This size is a heavy beast tho and I've since bought the two smaller pans to go along with it. It wouldn't be a bad idea to go for the slightly smaller pan if your new to cast iron or the weight of the pan would be an issue. For me it's also great to avoid some of the potential forever chemical seepage that can come from non stick coatings. Update: My skillet sadly cracked today after nearly 5 years of almost daily use. I'm blaming a dodgy ceramic hob for overheating! Already hit the button to order a new one
