It does work with AppleTV Gen 4 and 5 - but plastic case is a cheap as it gets
The pros:o It does work out of the box with the newest 4th Gen and 5th Gen AppleTV which do still have a hidden IR sensor on the front.o The remote is larger than the original, which is nice in the hand.o It doesn't have that extremely annoying "trackpad" that 4th and 5th remotes come with.o The buttons do register a tactile "click".o Doesn't have a "Home" button" or volume buttons like the trackpad style has.The cons:o Plastic case is about as cheap as it gets.o Battery cover doesn't lock closed very tight.

Worked for Apple 3rd gen
Worked for my 3rd gen Apple TV right out of the box. I did have to “program” which took 3 seconds by holding the 2 buttons simultaneously. The remote does feel cheap and light-weight, but it works like a charm. Definitely worth the price

good replacement overall
it is working from the first try, no need for settings or adjustment, responding time is slow sometimes

It’s ready to go
As soon as I pulled it out of the box I pushed the button and my tv came on I thought I would have a book I had to go through and find the code for my tv or box or whatever and I didn’t have to do anything except pull it out of the box and if you have had to ever do that you know what I mean I highly recommend this remote I even dropped it in water and the next day it worked like normal lol but I wouldn’t recommend doing that

Is this homemade
I bought this because my kids stink and always lose the remote. This thing is pretty pathetic and cheap. The menu button sometimes works as a menu button, and other times performs whatever function if feels like. The plastic is so flimsy and thin, i feel like it would shatter into pieces if i dropped it on the carpet. I think some kid made this in their basement for a science fair project, and their mom convinced them to sell it on Amazon after they got an A. And knowing parents today, the kid probably originally got a B-, but the mom went to the school and complained to the teacher to get the grade bumped up.It was only like $15, but I should have just saved the money and put it towards a nice cigar. I really need to stop being so lazy and I should just look under the couch for the damn missing remote. This is a C+ science fair remoteThe end

Eh, it works.
The product did pair up with my Apple TV 4K (A1842). The remote does feel very cheap with some sharp edges. Button presses do have a very audible click that will hopefully tamp down after some use. Oh…. Batteries are NOT included.

Works great
Bought this remote after losing three Apple remotes, there’s something about the design of that remote that slips into every nook and cranny in existence, maybe how smooth it is and the curved edges? I don’t know but I was pretty sick of replacing it, this one was cheaper and someone mentioned that it had some weight to it that the original remote didn’t and they’re right, it doesn’t look sleek but it has substance. I didn’t have to sync it, it worked right out of the package and it’s been weeks and hasn’t gotten lost once :)

Great
Linked the remotes with the instructions but the remote didn’t work until I unlinked it based on the instructions. So be sure to try it both ways before giving up. Love when things get figured out!
