Q: I see it is 9.76” wide at the top (where the step is). How wide is it at the base (where the legs are)?

I sent it back, so it's not in front of me to measure. If you intend to stand on it to reach objects I suggest you only stand both feet in the middle. Don't lift a foot and hold onto something to step off. I flipped the stool stepping down, I think. I'm not positive because it surprised the heck outta me. Leaving me rattled and unsure about what exactly happened.
