Davis InstrumentsWireless Vantage Pro2 Weather Station with WeatherLink Console - Metric

This is my third Davis Instruments Weather Station. Over the last 17 years I have owned a Vantage Vue and a Vantage Pro 2. This is my second Pro 2. The last one was 7 years old and got beat up by 4 hail storms. I like most everything about My weather stations and Davis Weatherlink App especially. The hail beat up my transmitter and considering the age of the system and the Newly designed console I chose to buy a new Vantage Pro 2 wireless system with the more expensive new style console. After installing the new instrument cluster outside replacing the old one. I let it connect to my old console and it connected right away. Then I started up the new console. It went pretty smooth and i really like the new console. The reason I gave it a four star is the new console did not synch up to the weather station transmitter when I placed right next to the old console which was connected. I had to move the new style console into my living room and place the New style console on a window sill to get it to synch up and receive packets from the station transmitter. The old console has an external antenna and the new style console does not and there lies the problem. I contacted Davis Instruments tech and after trying several troubleshooting scenarios they sent me a new console to try out. It worked just like the first console only receiving data in my living room window.Just to clarify, for 17 years I have had a console sitting on the same counter in my mudroom wirelessly connected to a transmitter mounted outside in the same place.Bottom line is the new style console does not transmit and receive as well as the old ones.
