Used to establish charge level of auto battery AND charging voltage of alternator. My previous walmart battery suddenly died after just 6 Mos. Of course suspected alternator but could jump start with Jumpstart battery and cables. Car would run but battery wouldnt accept charge. So replaced battery. Checked with this multimeter and verified voltage and alternator charging. You will require very small Phillips screwdriver to install 2 AAA (included) batteries. Otherwise it's a good product. Many good vids on YT that show various uses of multimeter. No case for meter and instructions limited with meter. But under 10 bucks....works great. Same meter at Walmart is 32.00.
