Big cleaver for a little price
This is a HUGE cleaver. Dimensions are exactly as advertised. The 9" blade is indeed a full 3mm thick, and the whole package weighs almost 1.5 pounds on my kitchen scale. More on that in a bit. The blade has a nice taper, right down to the edge. The handle, advertised to be pear wood, was a bit dry on mine, but that's nothing a little linseed oil didn't fix.A word on the edge - it came reasonably sharp out of the box but I felt it needed a little touch up. Most people might not notice, as it cut well enough for the usual kitchen tasks, but a little work on a polishing stone had it shaving sharp. The steel (blend of 8cr13 and 4cr13, according to the ad) seems to be holding that edge well.It is heavy. This is not a scalpel. As I mentioned, almost 1.5 pounds on my scale and you feel every ounce. That will wear on you after a while, especially with everyday use. The handle feels good in the hand, and the design allows you to choke up on the blade very effectively. Even with the weight, it's supremely usable. I was able to cut some very thin slices of various foodstuffs with it.It's great for vegetable or meat prep, especially if you're cooking for 3+ people. The long and wide blade is great for chopping and dicing large quantities, and is good for transferring your food from the cutting board to the pan. I won't use this for all my kitchen cutting tasks every day, but I will use it a lot.

Very Sharp and heavy duty
This 9" Butcher knife is on point. The description is not a great "fruit knife". It is a very good quality butcher's knife that is very sharp. The weight of the 9" blade is very sharp. It makes cutting and slicing any type of prep a with very little effort.I would recommend it if you are looking for a good butcher's general kitchen knife.

Good Knife
This is a good knife strong and easy to use. Heavy enough for the chopping the small stuff. I like it :-)

Exceptional Quality
Zhang Xiao Quan is a famous brand in China with almost 400 years of history. They specialize in high-quality knives, but have expanded their offerings to include cookware, kitchen utensils, tools, and appliances, while also expanding into international markets. The knife I received was of exceptional quality and had a surprisingly affordable price. Straight out of the box, it was incredibly sharp, making cutting meat and vegetables a breeze. The cuts were clean and smooth, and I anticipate it will stay sharp for a long time. I will provide an update in the future to let you know how it continues to perform.

Ridiculously great price on a quality cleaver that holds up to any other cleaver I've seen
Honestly, I did NOT expect a cleaver of this quality. There are a LOT of inexpensive and frankly, cheaply made knives out there that are horrible straight out of the box and just cannot be improved or made decent. The first thing I noticed was how heavy the box felt. This boded well as it meant this cleaver would have some heft and oomph behind it, important when putting force into things like bonecutting and cutting through carcasses. I opened the box and I could tell that this was made for people that give a damn about their knives and cooking. Sure, there are more expensive cleavers out there, often bespoke hand-crafted ones that look gorgeous, but again, with a price tag to match. When it comes to knives though, what matters most is quality of materials and whether you can see yourself reaching for it to use it time and time again. A blade that can't do the task it's designed to or that isn't comfortable to use is a blade that isn't worth buying unless you want a display piece. This cleaver has all the hallmarks of a well made knife including good materials, full tang, thin and sharp blade, but one with a lot of thickness going up to it's spine, which in turn gives it the heft you need for chopping but the sharpness for slicing and cutting. The pearwood handle is gorgeous in its simplicity. This is the kind of cleaver experienced cooks reach for when they want a versatile cleaver that can multitask. This is not big box department store garbage that fools inexperienced cooks into wasting their money on something light, cheaply made and designed to fail quickly. Being a Western chef, I'm not familiar with most Asian companies, but this brand has made a fan out of me and if the rest of their products are just as affordable and yet, quality, I'll be buying a lot more of their products. $50 for this cleaver is just nuts!

Decent kitchen knife, better when rehoned
This knife looks nice and feels comfortable in my hand. Out of the box it's fairly sharp and has no problem trimming meat or chopping vegetables. It's not a bone cutter with its original edge. I spent some time honing the knife and sharpening a terrifying edge. Now it has the performance I want and has stayed sharp for a while now. Good knife, better with new edge.
