You have to have a belt or a shoulder strap, the fact is that the items that it holds (shovel, pinpointer) not to mention the trash you find will amount of trash you find, will make the bag rather heavy. You won`t be happy have to keep it in your hand. A shoulder strap will allow to move too much when you kneel or squat to dig. If you are serious about the sport get a belt for the bag special, I wear a belt on my pants and use a different belt on the bag above the belt on my pants. Consider it a tool pouch for your hobby. You need the non detector hand free to grab your tools to locate your finds.

Q: How long and wide are the 3 inside pockets? Will a digger with a blade length of 7.5 inches and 2 inches wide fit?

Yes, it will. I use mine with a serated Garrett digger in one, a 12 inch long garden digger, and the handle of my Pinkeroon in the center pocket. The only negative thing about it, is the two belt loops tend to pull to the center on my belt and the pouch gets pulled into a circle. Overall, I like it. It works fine for me

It's not picky about the belt, you can use the belt you used now.

Q: Is it more chinese junk?

Think it is made in Vietnam, but I found it to work very well and it got a lot of use until I upgraded. Guy who I gave it to is very happy with it. Only thing I didn't like was the stamps for attachment to belt. It flopped some and annoyed me. But it he'd up to another of junk iron being dug and carried out.
