Great cutter, Very sturdy, cut a medium dog easily.
When our groomer raised our rates, it was time to learn about trimming a dog on our own. This product came highly recommended from a groomer. We purchased it realizing that if we trim our dog 3 times, we will have made money. The clippers are nice and heavy to make sure they hold up for long uses. It does get warm after about 45 minutes of use, but seems to cool quickly. We were outside with a breeze. It took us forever to trim our dog and this held up well. As we get better at grooming, it won't take so long. The hardest thing is changing the head. A 10mm is pretty short and good for around the private areas. We bought a 5mm for the body which is also a bit short, but as it's summer, he needs the shorter fur. IT keeps the stickers away. Overall this is a great product.

Amazing superior clippers
All I can say is I should’ve bought these earlier. The previous clippers I had were rated professional but were in no comparison to the quality, speed, functionality, and durability of these. I use these for personal use on my Aussie doodle, who has wavy thick hair. I asked a groomer and she recommended these along with another brand that was 4x the cost. Those weren’t in my budget but these work so well that I have no regrets. I would go over the same spots and unstick hair from the plastic attachment combs every few swipes taking me over an hour to simply cut the hair evenly. I bet it took me 25 minutes to do the same job and I could leave it long for Midwest harsh winters. I added a picture of the combs as these were a great pairing. I am unsure if I had gotten plastic ones if I would’ve been as happy with the results. So for $150 I have clippers and attachments that work very well and save me a tremendous amount of time. How much does it cost to groom your pet? This is priced but you won’t buy 3, as I have done in 2 years, if you just grab these the first time and swallow the slightly higher price tag. Also, I spoke with a friend who works in a vet office and the blade can be sharpened if you don’t want to replace it when it gets dull, which saves about $30 in replacement blade cost. She even used these on her horse. Highly recommend grabbing these trimmers and the metal attachment blades for personal use!Slight negative: As others stated, they do get warm. I found I was done cutting as it got to this point. I would think a pause for the motor to cool would take care of it if you are cutting multiple animals.

awesome clippers for my poodle
I rarely write reviews but I felt it was worth it for this item... I called Andis directly and their customer service rep recommended this clipper for my pure-bred Klein poodle (he is medium-sized dog, slightly larger than a Cocker Spaniel). His fur is thick and curly, and I was concerned about getting the right clipper since they have so many to choose from. She said there was no need to get a higher speed one for his fur, especially because the higher speeds get hotter. Now, keep in mind I have NEVER EVER used clippers before, not even on people. My dog stands very still and is very tolerant of grooming, so I lucked out in that respect. He did not get startled by the clippers and they make a low buzzing noise that he tolerated without freaking out. These clippers were amazing for a first time user, and I am so glad I chose them. They never got hot. They did get warm, but because I was moving slow and taking short 10-15 second breaks, it never got too hot. The blades are sharp, and the Andis customer rep said that that they sharpen any dull blades for $5. I had almost purchased the ceramic blades, but once she told me that, I changed all my blades to metal, because they have more utility over the long run. (ceramic blades cannot be sharpened). The blades are sharp and at the higher speed setting, went through his fur with no problem at all.I love this product and my dog was happier (and cooler) after his shave. I used a 3 3/4 blade to get his summer clip done - it leaves about a 1/2 inch of fur, and the included #10 on his face and "sanitary" area for a closer shave. My tips for first-time at-home groomers -1) Use on clean, dry fur only.2) MAKE SURE you comb out ALL the mats... the clippers will snag on any mats and that could hurt your dog and send your grooming session downhill. Even though I thought I combed my dog out, I still hit a few snags, and I would immediately stop, set down the clippers and comb out the mat. I will make doubly sure the next time I do this so that I don't have to stop and start so often.3) There is no need to hurry. It took me about 90 minutes to finish grooming my dog, and I'm sure I'll get faster as we go. The clippers aren't too heavy and I did not get fatigued while using them.4) I put my dog in a dry empty baby bathtub. That allowed me to position ourselves near a convenient outlet, so having a corded clipper was no issue. It also made cleanup a breeze.I highly recommend this item. Totally worth the money.

I’m Professional these handle 5-10 dogs a day. 5 days a week.
I groom dogs professionally for almost 20 years. These clippers are used all day 5 days a week on average 5 plus dogs a day. The first pair i bought lasted two years before I even had to replace the blade drive. Keep in mind they are being pushed to the limit everyday. They’ve been dropped Multiple times and bit, and still work great. They have enough power to do the job and do it well. Personally I should have a more expensive pair these I don’t think were meant to handle the amount I use them, other andis clippers such as the Pro, do seem to work smoother something however they don’t take the hits and falls as well as these do. Someone who is more gentle then me may consider spending the extra. I had some issues with the cord bc of bending and having to maneuver them so much, however I’ve had that issue with every try pair of clippers I’ve ever bought. I also use the Romney Clipper Vac System, so I remove the head piece and replace it with the Romney attachment, then I secure the cord to the vacuum hose this seems to help with this issue. I would definitely recommend these clippers. They are affordable and if they would break I could replace them faster then a more expensive pair.
