No, I mean you could probably make them work but 12g is pretty think, personally I would go to a hardware store and get some medium size normal pliers. I don't even like to use jewelry pliers on 14g much less 12g.

You need clip-on earring backs. After that, there is no difference between making them or pierced earrings. So what tool you need depends on the technique you use. If you mean what tools do you need to switch pierced earrings to clips, I've done it dozens of times. For all pendant or dangly types, they attach to a hook with a ring at the bottom. You need the needle nose pliers and jumpring ring to open that ring and re-attach the dangle to a clip with a ring. If the original has a post on the back, you cut it off with the side cutter and file it flat. Then you epoxy on a disk-front clip. Superglue does not hold well against shear.
