Almost as grumpy as the real thing
Bought this for my wife’s citizenship ceremony. Although he was disgusted to travel on public transport, the King was all smiles once he got to the Town Hall, and charmed everyone. The staff told me they wished they had the budget to buy their own, but I was loyal and did not give up my King, although had they offered me some silver, he would have been theirs. The King then went on to pose for photos with everyone who wished it in the lobby, before departing to my wife’s work, where he happily mingled with the hoi polloi. Despite his claims to be 5ft 10, we noted from his photos with others that he is only around 5ft 8, and that includes the feather in his cap. Still a lot of men lie about their size don’t they, so why would a king be any different? We then went to a Mexican restaurant and although Charles claimed to be delighted to be there, he ate nothing, which somewhat disappointed our hosts. The socialising finished at an Indian chai cafe, where the King regaled us with stories of how his great great grandmother had once ruled India and grabbed fistfuls of diamonds and rubies that he still enjoyed wearing. I informed him that his largest ruby was in fact a spinel and took him back home on the dreaded public transport. Overall, I think he enjoyed his day out although he has shown no appetite for future excursions and his future may end up being as a nerf gun target for my nephew. An outstanding cut out of an average monarch.
