Use “garden seal” on it before adding compost. It’s non toxic. The fir wood won’t last long if you don’t. The design and price are wonderful. Use the little block of wood as a spacer for the wooden slats. They don’t tell you that. I wish I had known. I’ve tried the plastic bins before. They don’t really work. Use this type. Use compost layers to get the best results. This is the old fashioned way. It works best for a backyard garden.

This is a nice kit, however the finished piece is not the most sturdy. My 4 year old (35lbs) stood on one of the slats, and it buckled immediately. It gets the job done for smaller composting projects, for us, that is leaf mold, some lawn clippings and food waste.

This makes composting so easy. At this sales price, it was about the same cost as buying landscaping timbers and accesorries and much easier to put together besides that fact it looks much better. This product is the best.

I guess didn't realize this was made with fir wood when I bought it, because if I had It would have gone with something else. Fir is not sturdy, it is very soft and I broke 2 of the tabs that hold everything together while I was putting it together. I might seal it at the end of the season to try to get more out of it, but it will not do well in my humid climate.

Assembly was fast and intuitive. Several removable boards on the front cracked while assembling. It's still usable, but I'm concerned it won't hold up with use. I wish they had used better quality wood.

It's SUPER simple to put together. You'll need two people and patience. Once put together, it looks so good and does its job.

The media could not be loaded.  This wood compost bin is easy to assemble. It took my nusband about 45 minutes. Bin is durable and sturdy. Can be moved once assembled. Slats fit into each other kinda like Lincoln logs. Side support panel holds slats in place with nails.It's been outside for a few months and is holding up well. Comes with gloves for turning the compost.

Bought this for my crazy gardener wife. Assembly was easy once you interpret the picture instructions. Once assembled feels pretty sturdy, even more so once spiked into the ground. Black tarp better quality than expected and gets the pile nice and warm!
