LOVE it
Update from 2025 (original purchase over 2 years ago): We have not had any major issues or really even difficult minor issues with this robot. The only issues we've had have been easily solved by googling their wiki on solving, and they've all worked. We run this robot at least 3 times a week (usually daily). We'd put it on a schedule but we don't want it to encounter something random like a puddle from a spilled cup or whatnot if we're not around since we have two cheeky cats and teens. I'll cover the pros and cons since we purchased. Pros: 1) Amazing suction power. We have not had any residual hair or dirt left over after the vacuum runs 2) Mopping power exceeds expectations 3) We've been somewhat lazy at times emptying the mopping containers and the vacuum still works just fine (meaning the dry vac, not combo) 4) The app is great. I know others have complained about it, but we have not seen any issue with the app at all since purchase. We have the house mapped and we can do zone cleanups, specify areas we don't want the robot going, etc. 5) Built-in AI. We have older kids and they're pretty good about picking up stuff, but at times, things might be left laying around. The vacuum learns from obstacles and avoids them. Cons (minor): 1) The emptier occasionally gets stuck because of something the vacuum ate (usually during heavy shedding season with our longhaired kitty). Super easy fix...you grab your shop vac and stick the hose on the bottom where the dirt gets sucked up into the bag (where the robot docks) or you take the vacuum bag out and clear the blockage from the top where the unit sucks it from the bottom. Not difficult at all. This is probably the "biggest" minor issue we've encountered. 2) Wheels getting stuck: Only once has the mop (the rear end of the robot) gotten stuck in a pressed down setting, not allowing normal vacuuming. We referred to the vendor's wiki page and immediately found the solution to manually roll the vacuum around until the mop unstuck itself from that position. Again, only happened once and was nearly immediately fixed. If you're debating whether to make a purchase from Roborock, my feedback is to choose Roborock. No, I am not paid for this review because I like to help others make good purchases. This is based on our anecdotal experience only and can't vouch for anyone else. We are in the process of building a new home and will buy another one of these units for the new place (or the next gen model). Original Review: We are on day 3 of this robot. We’ve had 5 other robots in the past, and all have had issues from the start. This one actually is incredible so far. The only feedback I have is that the mop and vac feature where it simultaneously performs both functions is not super great. We switched to a full vac and full mop and it is superb. “Buster” has made our floors clean again and it is as close to effortless as possible. Fill the clean tank and empty the dirty tank, and then ensure to inspect the robot at least once a day to make certain nothing is stuck.

I absolutely L.O.V.E this Vacuum
I waited for about 6 weeks to write this review because sometimes, a product works well at first but the more you use it the more you find its flaws! This vacuum is amazing! I have 3 dogs and 3 kids and this vacuum helps keep me sane. I run the vacuum and mop 4 days a week and just the vacuum 2 days. The other day I sweep and mop myself. Pros: * Easy to set up and quickly mapped out my house. * Takes very little maintenance. Just fill clean water and empty the dirty water every 3 or 4 days. I had a Shark combo robot previously and it couldn't even get thru 1 cleaning without me having to manually add water. If you leave the dirty water any longer than that it will smell. I didn't notice it from the machine but when you empty it, you will smell it. It has been 6 weeks and I have just today emptied the debris bag and I have 2 Aussies and a Golden Retriever that shed A LOT. * It really maintains itself, cleaning mop head every 15 minutes and self empties its dust bin. The Shark vacuum only self empties the dust bin if you are only vacuuming. If you are using the combo vacuum/mop, EVERYTHING is manual for the Shark. Roborock rocks with this feature. I do not have to do ANYTHING for days. * App is easy to use and makes suggestions for no go zones. * I can see what the vacuum is doing or any errors thru the app and sometimes can clear them remotely. Cons * Expensive but I think well worth the price * Like others have said, has a difficult time with cords, however, I bought cord organizers with boxes and ties from Amazon and fixed this issue. * Sometime gets stuck on my rug but usually I just start it again remotely and it unsticks itself I was worried about spending so much for a vacuum/mop but I am in love with this. I have had other robot vacuums and mops and this one is head and shoulders about the others. I did NOT get anything for free either. I paid full price for my Roborock.

It could have been great - but once again, it's a piece of junk in a pretty package.
This is my 3rd robot since diving in when iRobot released the first self-emptying vacuum - the i7. That machine lasted me 3x longer than the expected mean time before failure - but it DID require lots of fiddling around and tons of patience. I often wondered if I spent more time messing with the machine than if I just would have gotten my heartbeat up for 10 minutes vacuuming? But now I'm 70 and have interest (and diminishing ability) to clean my home without a robot. I replaced the i7 with a Narwal, which was sent back immediately. Great hardware - horrible software. ChatGPT suggested this model as a "set it and forget it" alternative. I'm just now getting things set up the way I want them. The user interface on the software is fairly good - but one thing that bugs me to no end is the "one size fits all" approach Roborock has taken when it comes to the app and the manual. This machine is unique - but the software is used across various models - and you'll get messages like "clean the filter"... which required me to ask ChatGPT what the hell is it talking about? That's where I learned I don't have one to clean - but Roborock hasn't removed this - and several other things - from the app. TERRIBLE. Hooking it up to my (very complicated) network was tricky and non-intuitive. I wish manufacturers would embrace Matter - or whatever standard that's widely used and accepted. This process was old-school and ugly and didn't succeed until I took the vacuum upstairs next to the router. That did it. As said in previous reviews, the mapping is great, although it made a mistake in my kitchen and it took some serious magic to get it to find and correct the mistake (I used zones instead of rooms...) but once it realized there was a chunk of floor missing from the main map - it put it in. So that's great. II wish they had a "re-map this room" function in the app. I love how it doesn't bang into stuff (including my feet when I'm at the kitchen sink). The tech is massively improved from the i7, and worth the wait. I'll update this review in a few weeks (or days, should something great - or awful - happen. Well - the machine is becoming more and more of a frustration. Most of it is related to the way things work OUTSIDE the actual machine itself. The manual is ridiculous. The website is awful. There are multiple (like seemingly over 100) models that might apply to the one I own - I'm not sure). Invoking ChatGPT to help hasn't help because all versions are different from one another - even though Roborock lumps them all together, and none of them operate the same way. Latest problem: I had a new runner (purchased from Amazon) that is shedding crazy amounts of lint. It's getting jammed into the bin, and it's not emptying when the jet engine tries to pull everything out. There are no warnings anyway that something is wrong - and (this is a big gripe) no way to order a manual emptying of the bin from the app. I am, for now, dropping it to two stars - and haven't thrown out the box (yet). But this has gone from a "set it and forget it" solution to a pain in the a**. And it's completely Roborock's own fault. It could be awesome. It is not. FINAL UPDATE: Back into the box and refund requested. Yesterday a box of corn flakes spilled onto the pantry floor. 9 different passes failed to pick up the mess. It actually spread it around outside the pantry. Turned out it was because (wait for it) THE DAMN BIN WAS FULL. Last night I heard it "empty" the bin - but the bin doesn't actually empty. So today, after manually clearing the bin and emptying it - I re-assigned the robot to clean the corn flakes from a section of floor measuring 6 x 5. This pass request was the NINTH TIME. And it still left flakes all over. I had set the vacuum to turbo - but all it did was just blow the debris around further - not suck it up.

Great vacuum
I bought this robot vac after my cleaning lady quit, as my white tile floor gets extremely dirty with 2 crazy shedding dogs (corgi and husky), a cat and 2 messy cooker humans. My parents had a 2020 iRobot vacuum and it was honestly very disappointing. It always got stuck in cliffs, constantly got lost, and always had errors preventing it from following the set schedule, so I was skeptical. I couldn’t be more happy with this purchase. It’s been just about two months of use, I run this almost everyday to keep the place presentable and I have yet to replace the dust bag (will probably be this week). It requires the perfect amount of work, and have only had to reboot maybe twice. I do regular vacuuming and mopping throughout the week with this thing with the deep+ option always on and never let it vac/mop simultaneously, I always have it do it separately. Once a week I remove items like chairs, trash cans, dog beds, dog crates, and any other easily movable objects to other rooms to have it get the hairs that build up in random places. It usually does a great job at getting everything clean in the first go, although it does struggle a bit with tough stains in my kitchen, but spraying them with water before usually does the trick. I also like using the remote control option if it’s just not handling it correctly (takes 5min out of my time, and minimal physical effort. I refill and empty bins once or twice a week. And remove any stuck hairs between brushes also once a week, i love how everything is easily removed. The only thing i hate is that rotating sweeping brush that’s on the side, because it bends due to it hitting walls and other objects. But it comes out brand new after putting the bristles in boiling water for a few seconds. Great purchase overall. It’s also very entertaining watching it clean. My cat has a vendetta against it, and is always taking it out of the base. A bit inconvenient with multiple level homes because you have to pick it up after it’s done. But that’s not the robot’s fault.

The bomb!!!
This vacuum is amazing so far! In anticipation of getting it, I got myself all worked up and stressed out about setting it up. It was so easy. Step by step guide and then an app. Once you unwrap it, you plug it in and then download the app. You’ll start out mapping your house. All you need to do is connect it to your internet and then you turn it on and let it go thru your house to get the full map. It does all the work! After that you can go into each room on the map and create fake walls if you want it to avoid certain areas such as going under the bed. It got to the basement stairs and just backed up. Then I ran the first cleaning with both the vacuum and the mop with plain water. It mops and then it appears it dries as it goes. I’m not quite sure about that, but just know your floors are not soaking wet after it goes over it. No streaks and our hardwoods look beautiful! It went thru the whole house, but I noticed that it had only vacuumed one strip in the back bedroom so I was concerned. Well after it completed all of the mopping areas it went all the way back to the other side of the house and completed a full vacuum of that bedroom. Each time I think it’s going to miss a piece of fuzz or something else it goes back and gets it. I empty the dirty water bin and it’s disgusting! I can run it each day and the water is disgusting. How is that possible? Now I just added the concentrated soap that goes with it and there’s no smell at all and the water is even dirtier. You can set up schedules for vacuuming and mopping or just vacuuming. I let it run a full vacuum and mop twice a week at 10 am and then I set it on quiet mode and let it vacuum just the main areas of the house two days a week at 1 am. I love that you can pick which rooms you want done and what time. We can’t even hear it running. The vacuum seems to be pretty strong. However, I will say that on a couple areas of the living room hard wood floors, it’s not getting flush with all of the baseboards so there is a little dust remaining, but barely. So you still need to do a little bit of cleanup with maybe a swiffer. It comes with two bags for where the dirt goes when it’s emptied. I have no idea how long those will last, but I’m sure the app will tell me when it’s full. It did get hung up on one cord so far and got stuck under a chair, both times the app sends a notification. So far it’s been a great investment, which I got for $400 off during Black Friday week, so they do go on sale occasionally. Hope this review was helpful because these were some of my main questions.

Great bot only misses a few mice to haves
I have had this since release date. These are far more superior to the other more familiar brand names. Navigation is top notch and so is the ability for it to avoid what life may bring. My name brand unit would find charger cords or dog bones, even get stuck on thresholds or fail to dock all the time. My house is particularly hard for bots to work around between 3 dogs, a cat, and 2 almost teens. This bot may find life’s accidents every so often but the other brand was multiple times a day. The mop pad and how it gets washed is way better than the other bot mops we have had. It can turn a muddy floor from dogs into a clean and shiny floor. You will need to still swap the pad every so often and wash it. Why 4 star and not 5? The S8 auto empty has some bad angles in the base, it gets clogged very easily. Ok, not an issue I will just manually empty it if it needs…. Unlike the competitors this bot will not tell you when the bin on the bot is full, nor will it tell you if the base is clogged. I check my unit every 3 days to make sure nothing is clogged. Just for info, the Soros doesn’t have the same base clogging issue but if the bot bin is full it will not alarm. The app will tell you every time the bot starts, every time it goes back to charge, even sometimes when it avoids obstacles, which you can’t turn those off without turning off all notifications. The app has never alerted me that maintenance is needed unless I open the app. I want to know when something is broke or needs maintained, I don’t need to know the bot has started every cycle. Even on max suction this bot will those small items like kitty litter instead of vacuuming them up. It does ok and get some, but if you also have it set to mop it will make kitty litter mush or streaks. So, I keep it out of that area. Last note, have latex gloves, the basin that washes the mop gets nasty and need manual cleaning. Better here than on my floor but still, needs cleaned. It’s gross.

Best robot vacuum purchase I have ever made (and I've made a few)
They say you get what you pay for, and it's never been more true for me than with this purchase. This is my 4th robot vacuum (2 Ecovacs and 1 Roomba previously), and this one far outshines its predecessors (it also was the most expensive). But it has been worth every single penny. I have two large dogs (a St. Bernard and a Golden Retriever), and they shed like it is their JOB! All previous models got the hair tangled up in the brushes/wheels (both), or the suction wasn't strong enough to empty the bag into the base (Ecovacs), or they didn't do a great job (both) - but this one has been phenomenal. It does an amazing job picking up all debris, dirt, and dog hair, and I've had no jams at all. The brushes detangle themselves, and the main multi-directional wheel is easy to remove, so if/when hair does build up there, I can just pop it out to clean (the Roomba had this, too; Ecovacs did not). The mopping feature works really, really well and I LOVE that it dries the mop head so no smelliness. My Ecovacs (supposedly) mopped, too, but it did such a poor job that I never used the feature. Plus, it had to run separately from the vacuum (attach mopping head). This one is all built-in and does an all-in-one. It actually "lifts" the mop head out of the way when it detects carpet. The app is great; scheduling is a breeze. It doesn't "lose connection" to my network constantly (looking at you, Roomba), and it displays a very accurate map, allowing me to see just what has been vacuumed/mopped. All-in-all, I couldn't be more pleased with this product, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants the best and is willing to pay the price for it. I would buy it again. No question.

This product will drive you crazy
Embarking on my journey with the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra Robot, the initial weeks were nothing short of delightful. The device presented itself as a capable, intelligent, and convenient cleaning companion, offering a welcome respite from manual house cleaning. Its sleek design, efficient mapping, and strategic cleaning paths particularly stood out, creating an illusion of a hands-free cleaning future. However, as weeks progressed, the sheen rapidly diminished, giving way to a plethora of frustrating issues that overshadowed its once admired capabilities. The consistent stumbling block was the frequent entrapments – the robot often found itself lodged in corners or stuck amidst household items, requiring constant supervision and defeating the purpose of an autonomous cleaner. The pet hair management, or the lack thereof, was another stumbling block for my experience. The tangles, jams, and subsequent manual cleanups became a frequent ritual, with the robot struggling to manage the hair shed from my furry companions. The minuscule dust bin and impractically designed dust bag compartment further exacerbated the problem, creating more mess than it managed to clean up. This accumulation of issues eventually dulled the initial sparkle of technological convenience. After a few short weeks, I found myself pondering whether manually cleaning my home was indeed a more reliable and less frustrating alternative to the now erratic robot vacuums. When the Roborock finally capitulated just three months into its tenure, the disillusionment was further amplified by the staggeringly slow and inconvenient customer service, providing responses often after a full 24-hour cycle and in the unsociable hours of 2 - 4 am. In reflection, while the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra Robot initially dazzles with its intelligent navigation and sleek design, the subsequent myriad of operational and design flaws quickly dim its appeal. My journey from initial delight to subsequent frustration has reshaped my perspective, positioning a manual cleaning session as a more appealing prospect than wrestling with the recurring issues presented by the robot.

Low maintenance, works well
Replaced a Roomba S9+ with this. Although it doesn’t vacuum carpet as well it is better in every other way. It works way faster, drives into less things, maps better and has the added bonus of “mopping”. The mop works okay, it’s closer to dusting than anything else but keeps the floors very clean. Highly recommend if budget is no issue.

Excellent product
I have used this for a few months now and am extremely happy with the robot vacuum. I have vinyl and carptet. it cleans both very well. It is pretty low maintenance once you fill the water tank. The app is very good as well. I noticed that it cleans better once you divide the rooms on the floor map and set it to 2x or 3x passes. The only complaint is the Alexa skill which I found very clunky, I couldn't get it to work consistenty so I just created a basic routine to start/stop.
