Dark and delicious stories of our internet age
“Rushing past a shiny surface on Commercial Street, she caught sight of her reflection and was frozen by the thought that this was what other people saw. On her scooter, she didn’t sing much that day. What if she’d been small and thin like other Kannadiga girls, with soft brown eyes and fragile shoulders? Or tall and thin? Or a man? Or had no body at all? Wouldn’t it have been wonderful if people were just minds? And voices of course, voices.”This desire to be seen as just minds and voices made a lot of us fall in love with and on the internet (at least in the pre-instagram days). And so we have this collection of short stories about modern Indian women and their lives in the times of the Internet.A woman who finds an anonymous personal blog written by her husband’s dead ex-wife and becomes obsessed with her (Teresa) College-time divas settling (down) - marrying the kind of men they would never date and turning into women they never thought they would (The Trinity). A male journalist who thinks rapists deserve capital punishment and yet objectifies and underestimates his women colleagues (Workout of the day). A first time author under fire from a twitter troll army (The Gentle Reader). These four stories are dark and delicious and worth the money spent on the book.Honourable mention of No Filter for which I will give no spoilers. There are a few other stories that I enjoyed, mostly because Nisha Susan has a very fresh, strong and unique writing voice. But there are two-three stories that I thought should’ve just been blog-posts.

Masterful collection of short stories
Wonderful set of short stories.Masterfully penned. Each story made me wish there was more from the characters. She somehow managed to define every character in a wholesome way, despite the brevity of each story. The right amount of intrigue with each ending.

Refreshing read
It's a great collection of contemporary stories featuring women, social media, hook ups - something that's very current in our conversations. Nothing explicit in the book even though it has stories set in the Tinder world, online dating etc.

Good, a pleasant surprise
Excellent character voices. A good variety of stories. Well written. Quirky at times. Looking forward to more of the author's offerings.

A wide-eyed read!
I conversed and sympathized with a diverse set of women through this book. Nisha Susan invites you into the inner circle of some intelligent, witty, bold groups of women.

One time read
Some stories are well-written and engaging, others are alright. Worth a read though.

Too fragmented and hollow!
It's a fragmented presentation. The title sounds interesting but was disappointed to decipher a handful of loosely knit and biased stories. No much content and no theme except for some gross usages. Gross usages are a part of the writing style but still didn't find anything relevant.

Can’t wait to read her next book too!
I’ve been following her work since “The Ladies Finger.” Nisha Susan manages to find sentences for the crevices of human emotions that often lie dormant. I chuckled through tears and laughed till I cried. My favourite stories were ‘trilogy’ and ‘workout of the day’I’ve sent a copy of it to pretty much all my friends. Can’t wait
