so when I bought these shelves I was a little hesitant because I wasn't sure about the quality of the wood that was being used to make these shelves. these shelves are extremely light and don't feel really durable when you first hold them so you're going to have questions when you're putting it on the wall. but I will tell you this I put the brackets into the studs of my walls and then I put the shelves onto these brackets and they hold up quite well they don't bend they're not made out of cheap-ass particle board they're solid wood I don't know what kind of wood I'm guessing pine because they're very light but as the fact that they've been holding up all of our books for about 2 months 3 months and I don't see a single bend in them I think we're fine I would suggest these for somebody just wanting some cheap shelves and aesthetically pleasing for a decent price just as long as you put them into studs you will be fine.

I love the paulownia wood these are made from. The wood is very light weight, but also very sturdy. These shelves are great product for a great price. Real wood with good looking metal brackets for 50.00 - that's not bad. I love the way these shelves sit on the brackets - it's a good design. These shelves are the perfect size for books, decor, and more.I would highly suggest using different drywall anchors with these shelves than what are provided. Most people know better than to use the hammer in style drywall anchors, but if you're new to installing shelves, I would suggest the screw style rated for 50 lbs at Home Depot; they are very inexpensive.I would also highly suggest using the middle bracket with at least 1 drywall anchor on these shelves if you're planning to put any significant weight on them. With the shelves being 3 feet long, they may bow in the center if you neglect using the middle bracket.

These are nice shelves for smaller books or dvds. They are easy to put up, but they came with nice black metal brackets for support, which my husband used. I am not sure why they are called floating shelves, as floating implies no visible hardware. But the pricepoint is about right. If you were to buy six brackets and three nice wooden finished planks to DIY it would cost the same or maybe a bit more. Four stars for the word floating, as I expected there to be studs for floating and a choice or which to use.

Beautiful shelves that came together easily! I get a lot of compliments on them, and they match the other black-metal & brown-wood book cases in my place. For those complaining they aren't strong, looks like you've put the support on wrong. The support side goes UNDER the shelf, and the vertical leg can still point either up or down. They're not super beefy, but they do the trick and hold all my books and some decor. Wouldn't put heavy stone/glass things up there though.

The shelves are absolutely amazing and I love that you can choose the way the brackets go on.

I am revising my previous post after finally getting the shelves up. They are on pretty secure now and i'd consider getting another set if only to match the other ones. Process to build was a headache.The screws included were NOT correct for the product. I had to go to my local hardware store and get items that worked better and needed extra screw mount things. Not too expensive but just annoying. It also was NOT clearly marked that the shelves need to be installed on a stud. Not doing so will make the shelves super weak and liable to fallout with too much weight. Once i figured out the best way to install them and get them on the wall, the process was easy.
