This book had diagrams with all the parts of a compass, but it never did actually explain how to use a compass. We needed it a lot more detail

I loved the resource websites found throughout the book and and at the end. Great resources to research the subject in more detail. The book could have used some editting.

Easy way to instruct kids or beginners on basic orienteering.

The product had the information I needed, but I seriously doubt anyone edited it before or after it went to print. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a book so poorly put together. Made it seem just slapped together in a rush to get it onto the shelves. Not a great example of how to write a book for children or adults!

To my surprise, this book was an interesting read. It presents stories about the survival uses of compasses and then goes into great detail on how to use compasses along with various kinds of maps. There were some editing issues and I think a youngster could only get through this with the help of an adult, but it would it would provide a good structure for teaching.

No where near as described. Very disappointing, so bad I tried to return and I was told to keep it.

Found a few type-O's and some story-line issues. Example: Page 27) the first paragraph (history of magnets and compasses) just drops-off in mid-sentence. In general, an Ok read - but needs more pictorial examples of an explorer using their compass to orientate with a map to line out magnetic North and true North, (shooting azimuths to known points in the distance to identify and confirm location, then determine a heading to reach targeted destination.
