Just got delivered (5 days early!) and everything seems to be working fine. I haven’t tried charging the unit yet but will tomorrow. I do notice that the one wheel takes slightly longer to move than the other when pressing throttle. Didn’t seem to effect anything when I hopped on and tried it. Definitely fast and powerful! Need to get used to the acceleration before tryin higher speeds. Will update a month from now

Update: it’s been about 10 days for a total of 100 miles and a within the past few rides I’ve over shot several intersection when stopping from max speed because the braking system is not fully activating- pretty scary. I felt very confident applying full brake on turbo from 25-30 mph but now I do not. I’m afraid that this 10% scenario will #1 happen when a car or pedestrian cuts me off and #2 I’m worried the problem will become increasingly common. Going to call Backfire CS before I jump straight to a return but I am disappointed because this board is awesome in all other aspects… being able to effectively stop, though is priority number one.I spent 50+ hours over the course of several weeks reading every single Reddit sub and YouTube review about the “perfect” esk8 upgrade and based on this research, I went with the Zealot S and couldn’t be happier (this is one week review- I’ll post an update down the road). As an experienced snowboarder this is the closest i’ve gotten to the feeling of bombing a freshly groomed blue hoping off the first chair in the morning. Tons of smooth and manageable power with excellent braking ability. The board has the perfect amount of flex and the concave shape allows effortless control. Straight out of the box the Zealot S blows my GyRoor (dual 600w hub driven) esk8 out of the water. It’s not even in the same league. 30mph in turbo mode feels like 20 on my Gyroor. You can’t help but smile when you feel the torque and the whistle of the dual belt 875’s. It feels very safe and reliable, which is huge when ripping through traffic. They provided extra motor covers and belts as well. The 97 wheels are large and wide providing piece of mind burning turns and does well with uneven pavement and with small rocks (yes you can ride on packed/ gravel rocks or grass at a slow speed). I have no plan on upgrading to 105 clouds because the size different is minuscule and I don’t want to sacrifice carving traction for a slightly smoother ride on bumpy roads or grass (if all the roads around you are trash buy an AT board with Pneumatic tires). The ONLY bad thing about the board is the charging cover is a really flimsy silicone cap that doesn’t sit super well in the port- makes me a little nervous with dirt and definitely water. They should upgrade this… not a big deal though bc you should not be riding in the rain (only advertised as water resistant among a number of other obvious reasons). Besides that small component I would still give the Zealot S a 10/10 as long as it holds up like they say. Backfire customer service is supposed to be very solid- hopefully I wont have to find out for a long time :). Have fun and protect your noggin’!

works as advertised, but several of the plastic mounting tabs broke almost immediately out of the boxboard works excellent just not built for everyday use as its seems a bit fragile

I was a little bit skeptical about getting bored at first. Especially electric skateboard, but after 400 miles, this board it is awesome, it pulls all of our really big hills with me on it, and I weigh about 225 lb right now. And it does it with ease, I did upgrade the wheels to the cloud 9. But the standard Wheels work just fine as well, the board has enough power to get you moving well over 25 miles an hour, and the sustainability to pull you well over 15 miles but I also typically ride it in sport mode. It's great for commuters, and so far it has saved me so much at the pump with these gas prices💪

Love it. Best board I ever had. Way better then the meepo I had before and chick's scream at me everywhere I go.. I feel like everyone needs one..

The media could not be loaded.  I’ve had this Backfire Zealot since mid-march (bought March 14, and today is Sept 12) and have been riding it regularly with no issues, but recently I discovered a long crack running alongside the left side of the battery. The board still turns on and rides, but there’s a rattling sound and feels as though it could come apart at any moment. Not sure what to do.

This thing is absolutely fantastic. Only been on it for two days but zero problems. Brakes are great and oh man this thing can move! Powers up hills too
