I live in Florida, had no shade and the sun is brutal! I purchased 2 pergolas and put them side by side. The prices to purchase one pergola in the size I needed was crazy expensive so I opted for this. At first I wasnt sure how it would look but I think it looks fine! The first one I put together completely by myself. I do not recommend it. Its 8ft tall, Im 5'3", you do the math! It was a total pain and took me all day. The second one my son in law helped and took us just under an hour. I will say, this is the first time I have purchased an item I had to build, that went together the way it was suppose to. There were no pieces missing, everything fit together perfectly and there was a lot of extra hardware included. The items were packaged very well with no damage. The shade cloth is good quality weight wise. Ill have to see how well it holds up to the sun. The only negative thing I have to say is that the magnets are not near strong enough. I live by the water where it is always windy. I was constantly closing the top. I ended up sewing on a large hook and eye on the end of the strap. So now when I need it to stay put I just loop the strap over the rail and hook it underneath. Problem solved. Overall I think it looks great, was easy to assemble with help. I love that I can close cover during the day and pull back at night. Im very happy with my purchase! Absolutely would buy again!

This item is very difficult to assemble. Other reviews have mentioned some of the issues, but for me the biggest one is that the fasters are not labeled. Other challenges include a small and sometimes difficult to figure out Ikea style instructions. You will also need at least one other person to assist with the final assembly which involves moving around some large but very lite parts.Also as mentioned the magnets don't work. My wife found some other disc shaped magnets so we just placed them over the existing magnets and it worked fine. I only had one threaded hole on mine that was not machined correctly the rest were ok. Also mine is set up on a patio that is canted to drain water, that slight down hill is enough to open it. That is why the bike lock is on it.It looks pretty good and I have lots of time on my hands and it is really cheap.

I have been searching for a pergola for a while. I didn't want to spend 400 dollars on one. I saw this and saw the terrible reviews but I think some are just picky. Putting it together requires 2 people. The instructions could be better and some pieces had to be pushed into proper placing but honestly what diy doesn't? The curtain is nice but the magnet isn't strong enough to hold it but you know what? Use a chip clip and you're good. If you are like me and think "God it's hot as ball out I wish I had some shade" then instead of waiting for a 400 dollars pergola to go on sale get this. It's so nice I'm probably going to order a second. My backyard finally has some shade and I didn't have to spend 400 dollars for it.Pros: looks great, SHADE, ISNT $400Cons: you have to be careful how you put it together, may have to use a chip clip to keep the shade closedOverall it's a great purchase for someone looking for good looking shade at a reasonable price.Update: I had a bad storm in my area and it ended up breaking some of the poles. I was able to fix them and actually secured it to my deck like I shouldve in the first place. I do recommend using a dog collar to keep the shade closed for storms or windy days!!!!

No written instructions just drawn out pics difficult to understand and see. If you set a couple of them up it would be easier but have fun with your first one. Lol. Basically flip of the coin is it right or wrong. To much hardware. Have a metric socket and ratchet available the Allen they supply is junk. Not sturdy and missing end caps. I figure it might last one winter and summer. Cheap and not worth the money.

I did receive a defective pergola but the company was quick to make it right. I would not hesitate to shop from this company again

OK for the price, instructions are lacking in detail, fabric could be darker, doesn’t stop much sunlight. Need gussets in the corners not very sturdy.

Originally I never received multiple pieces and none of the screws. After 2 months of back and forth I received what was missing. However there are product defects that prevented us from putting 2 screws into one of the post attachments, and there were multiple bent items we had to straighten out. For the money it was not worth the aggrevation. Though It is easy to put together, and not too flimsy, just not as solid as I expected. But then I also expected to receive everything with my order.
