Would NOT call this a introductory potting wheel for adults... I WOULD say it's a great way to introduce the idea of a pottery wheel to children. Our 6 year old enjoys playing with clay so we got this for her to expand her knowledge a bit and try something new with clay.The wheel itself is pretty easy to stop so you have to be careful with the downward pressure. In some cases it's easier to do a bit of shaping off the wheel as far as pushing down in the middle of the clay, and then just use the wheel for expanding it outwards from there.Considering the price, I'd like to see a little better motor on this one so we'll call it a 3 star item. It's a decent starter set for children, but it's marketed as adults too, which I don't think is really where it shines.

This pottery wheel was easy to set up and use. It comes with a variety of tools that are all described in the short instruction pamphlet. It was a little messier than I anticipated because the clay is very soft (and must be kept very wet to use properly). So I recommend putting down a drop cloth or tablecloth if using in an area that you want to keep clean. I also learned that I will need to practice quite a bit to get decent at this, but it is enjoyable and relaxing.

This is great for teaching kids that patience can become something pretty. Hand eye coordination as working the clay shows them what their hands can do. This kit has everything you need to start out and is perfect for getting away from screens.

This is a complete set. Perfect for home use. It has everything you need in the box to get started. It works great and is pretty quiet. Overall a great kit for the price.
