Works as advertised
Pretty handy around a DYI shop. I use it to lift heavier items to perform maintenance or replacement on tractor and mower parts. I couldn't say it would pull an engine, but it does well lifting cylinder heads off of blocks. Build quality seems fine for the cost.

Well made and very easy to use
These chainfall hoists are great. They operate easily and hold their positions very well. After sitting under load for a while the downward chain often needs a quick tug to unlock, but it continues smoothly after that.I had been using a pair of ratcheting lever-chain hoists to lift a 220# hobby table to the ceiling in my basement. This meant reaching to the ceiling to operate the handles and leapfrogging safety chains on each side to guard against a hoist failure. I considered rigging a power winch, but that would have required a maze of pulleys and left me with a single point of failure. Now I have rigged four of these chainfall hoists, two on each side, and can raise and lower the table faster and much more easily. No flipping a pawl to reverse, no reaching up between the rafters and pipes to ratchet a few clicks at a time, no need for managing additional safety chains. The pair on each side are only 6 feet apart and can be operated together by one person to keep the table from twisting as it is lowered. Using four hoists is definitely overkill, but the installation was completed to existing lift points in minutes and the convenience and safety are well worth the expense.
